Doors along the sides of the ships opened with a distant alarm in English. "All 2nd Gens to battle stations."

Benimaru bolted past you. "SHINRA! MAKI!" He ordered. They flew to his sides. "If the empire fires at us, how many missiles can you handle?"

"Uh. 1 at a time, Sir." Shinra responded with inflated optimism. That would apply to all the 3rd gens if they were lucky. Beni hid his disappointment, it wouldn't help the situation.

"... 3." Maki, as the only other available 2nd gen in the air, looked at District 2 in dread. She held a shred of hope that her father could stop this. Benimaru had no such faith.

"Good enough. Land them in the water. If you can." Beni directed.

You could hear the roaring orders around the airships and pick out enough English words to try to call back, but you were too far away for either group to hear you. Beni kept close control of the matoi you sat on, keeping you lined up behind him at all times.

You can't focus on the missiles if you're controlling my matoi too. You thought to yourself as you reached a hand down, palm towards the earth far below you.

You heard his voice so clearly in your head. The hell I can't. The telepathy you shared sent a jolt through your body. It was a new sensation, it was going to take you a while to get used to it, but it seemed to only activate in high adrenaline situations... You closed your eyes, trying to imagine where exactly you left the scythe. Or was it a hammer right now? Fuck. It's in the Matoi shop. Beni's voice drowned out the rush of the wind in the sky.

Thank you, love. It took a few seconds for it to arrive, but once it did, you held it tightly and kicked your leg over from the matoi.

His posture remained steadfast and commanding. His mind, less so. Careful- I'll catch you-

Don't be so nervous, honey. You soothed.

You sat on the edge of your scythe, before you pulled some of the ash around yourself in thick bands, mirroring the shibari ropes Konro and Beni tied you in. If the idea was to distribute your weight so you could be comfortably suspended... maybe...

The bands twisted around your limbs, your chest, your hips, and as you lowered the shortened scythe under you, you remained afloat. "Ha ha!!" You squealed in excitement, before launching yourself back to the air ships with your weapon trailing behind you.

Beni did a double take back to you as you flew, his eyes ablaze in preparation for the incoming missiles as he pulled your matoi back to him and rested it over his shoulder. You're distracting.

You smirked. Then don't look at me. What are your orders, Captain?

A brief image of you tied in the same pattern, on your knees, bent over comfortably on some pillows with your hands tied behind your back and his fingers gripping your bound wrists flashed from his mind to yours. Your cheeks flushed as his voice so coolly ordered. Tell them to pick off the missiles to the left. Our team will take what they can from the right. I'll handle the remainder.

10-4, and I hope that was a premonition for when we get out of this, Captain.

It is. He promised. Truthfully, the flirting helped you both stay calm. You flew towards Shay's ship, and were directed to the side door as Mara flew to Benimaru for orders.

"WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED TO YOU??" She demanded as you stepped inside.

"Can I borrow your speaker?" You replied calmly with the gray ring glowing in your eyes. You'd catch her up later. Her subordinate handed you the microphone.
