You entered Vulcan's open air workspace with your hands on your hips. "You took all my shit." You accused.

Vulcan didn't look up from his weld. "You weren't using it."

"Yeah, well, now I am." You rolled the plasma cutter away from him and stole the stool he temporarily vacated by kneeling near the portal gate.

"You know. I never had a sister, but I feel like-" You grinned from ear to ear as he spoke, before he was interrupted by a large boom in the nearby training grounds. "-what the hell's going on over there?"

You reached for a piece of scrap metal. "Konro. He's enjoying beating the shit out of Oze's fire soldiers. At least he gives them constructive feedback after he humiliates them. Shinra and Arthur signed up for a round with him, which should be hilarious. We got anything lighter than this?"

Vulcan pulled his helmet back down. "You back on the Arthur armor project? Shouldn't you be making bullets?"

"I made two crates this morning..." Your expression dropped. Last night, you woke up before dawn and couldn't fall back asleep. You kept thinking of Benimaru's face when he returned from Adolla. If he looked scared, you must all be outmatched. In your focus, you didn't hear him enter your workshop. You leaned over your workbench, and his arms wrapped around your waist from behind.

"Come back to bed." Benimaru's warm breath tickled the skin of your neck.

"I need to-"

His hand spread wide to curl his fingertips into your hips, pulling your back tighter against his warm body. "You need rest." He corrected.

"I couldn't sleep. Might as well be productivvvve." You slurred as the back of his fingers brushed your skin under your shirt.

"I can help with that." The back of his fingers traced up the curves of your waist. "Or. I can make you some tea... Lavender and chamomile, right?"

You found it incredibly endearing that he was trying to learn all your teas and their applications. "Beni-" Your attempt to convince him of the importance of your work was undermined by your body pushing back harder against his. Your heavy lids fell closed as his middle finger uncurled and elongated between your breasts.

"I can't fall back asleep if I wake up and you're gone."

Your eyes snapped open. "Oh." You pouted. You turned in his hold to face him, draping your arms over his shoulders as your eyes darted around his somber expression. "Even if you can hear me tinkering down here?"

He kissed you, and lifted you into a bridal carry across his chest. Even then. The day you burned he woke up without you. "Tea or no tea?"

"Damn. You must have been up early. And no, not at the moment. You wanna go on a junk run?" Vulcan's excitement at the idea of visiting his old yard was unconcealable.

"We might have to." You sighed with a mischievous smile.

You hopped to your feet, hoping to sneak out of town without notice. "Not necessary," Hibana inserted herself from behind you both.

Vulcan rolled his eyes for you to see. "Do you live to step on a good time, Captain?" He teased.

"Yes. And I'll get you whatever weight metal you need by tomorrow." She directed at you.

"Fine, fine." You took a seat in the shade and pulled up the armor file on your computer. "How goes training?"

"Tch. It's a shitshow. Your Captain is only there to monitor Konro. Everyone's bombarding Shinmon with questions that he's ignoring. They want him to be a commander. Can you believe that?" She huffed.
