The Border of Asakusa (Benimaru x Reader)

If either of you had known how this long day would end... you wouldn't have let him wake up alone in your home that morning.

Before his eyes agreed to open, he could hear you downstairs, chatting away with the influx of military men from district 2. Beni groggily got dressed and descended into your workshop.

"Ah, Captain, you slept half the day away." General Oze was an insufferable morning person.

Beni's tired eyes scanned the workshop for you, ignoring Oze entirely. You stepped up to his side from behind, kissed his cheek, and presented him with a cup of tea. "Good morning."

"Why is half the military in my town?" He grumbled at Oze. He took a sip of tea and kissed your cheek in response.

Oze shook his head. "Half the military? We're 3 Humvees."

"They're picking up bullets. We just got the last crate packed." You kept your voice low and soothing for your sleepy partner.

"You make your Lieutenant do all the work around here?" Oze pestered.

"The Captain's been on night shift most of the week." You answered for Beni, who was still blinking slowly. He'd covered 3 extra shifts so far this week. Sure, he usually looked tired from extra coverage, but it was really starting to take its toll. You'd also pulled an all-nighter last night to finish up Oze's order. (Which you'd procrastinated in the name of the bathtub project. You regretted nothing.)

"Mind if we grab lunch in your market before we go, Shinmon?"

He turned to head back into your home. "Knock yourselves out."

"Bye General! Great seeing you as always! Oh, and thank you for dropping off the equipment from Frank!" You followed Benimaru into your house. You wrapped your arms around him from behind. "You should get some more rest." You nuzzled your forehead into him.

"I'm fine." He yawned.

You rolled your eyes. "Obviously not. Don't come to my shift tonight. Sleep."

He turned in your arms. "I'm not leaving you alone in the tower." He kissed you slowly.

Truthfully, it was a very normal day. Some garden work, some food deliveries, helping the girls with their homework after school...

"Waka! She fell asleep!" The girls called into the kitchen.

"Hm? Oh. Let her sleep. Come help me with dinner."

"Wilco!"

You woke up an hour later to the chatter gathering around the dinner table. "You've gotten much better at this, Benimaru." Gaku complemented into his first bite. "I'd still rather eat Konro's food, but your cooking is at least stomachable now."

You stirred. "You have no room to talk. You're actually the most miserable cook I've ever seen, Gaku."

"Well well. Morning, sleeping beauty." He teased.

You ignored him. "What did you make, honey?" You cooed to Beni as you pulled yourself up to a seat.

"Cold Soba, fish, and vegetables. It should keep until Konro gets back from the 8th this evening."

You rubbed your eyes. "Thank you for dinner."

"Waka!" The twins whined. "You left out the best part!"

He sighed. "And the girls helped make warabi mochi." But his eyes smiled at you as yours widened into your first bite of noodles.

"I love warabi mochi..."
