"Do you remember the Christmas party Becca dragged us to 8 years ago."
"Yeah you almost let me hug the cunt and you didn't have a beard. That day made me wanna die. Mom put me in blue ball gown," I say as we sit on the car with police sirens going in the background. "Yeah but you did look like princess."
"Don't I always."
"Shut up kid."
We are staking out the hotel where Hughie and Annie were meeting up. I know I should be more concerned with Hughie and Annie dating but I trust him. He's doing his job, and besides we kissed once it didn't mean anything.

I sit in a diner, "good morning Attie," Hughie says and walks in kissing my forehead. "Good morning Hughie."
"I told Annie I couldn't see her like that anymore I felt bad since I only wanna hang out with you. We're still gonna be friends so your dad doesn't kill me."
"He still might," I order a coffee, "did you tell her the truth?"
"No."
"So she might come kill us. To that's fine we should get back to the safe house."
"Yeah," he grabs my hand and we leave.

"Athena Josie Butcher!" My mom screams through the apartment. "Is are little asshole in trouble?"  Dad asks and I stick my tongue out at him. "When isn't she?" I smile proudly. "That's my girl."
"Billy stop encouraging her," mom says as Dad picks me up. "How can we be mad at this cute little face?" Mom smiles, "fuck I can't stay made at her or you," mom and dad kiss. "Gross," I say and they both laugh.

Hughie and I walk into the safe house, I hand dad a coffee, "your the best kid."
"I know dad," I say and I go to a room. "Fuck!" I scream, "dad."
"Yeah the place is gone."
"Fuck."
"Kid stay here if we're all burned then your safe here."
"Dad."
"Your my kid."
"I love you."
"I love you too," he says and leaves. I sit down and think about things, "Dad you have a cop you wants to talk to you!" I scream through the apartment. "Athena don't you have classes to get to."
"Yeah I'm going and I'll pick up dinner."
"You better," we hug. "Cute kid."
"Yeah she's just like Becca."
"Asshole!"
"Athena this is my dad," I smile.
"So whose your family," Hugh ask me. "Billy and over there's is my uncle M.M and my uncle Frenchie."
"So how did you end up working here?" I get up and grab my laptop sitting at the computer listening to Spice girls with my headphones. "Find anything?" Dad ask sitting down.
"No computers basically been shut down all my files are gone."
"It's ok kid can I?"
"Yeah," I hand him a headphone, "spice girls?"
"What they make me happy or at least remind me of when I was happy."
"Your good kid."
"Yeah I Know." We hear tires squeal outside Frenchie tosses me a gun, "everyone calm down." Dad walks outside then Raynor walks in, "you called?"
"I had to I thought about my family," dad walks over to me, "you have to go to."
"No dad im not leaving you. You and have I done everything together you need me."
"I need you to be safe. I can't lose you to."
"Dad im staying final decision."
"I can't make her go," Raynor says to us.
"Fine stay but if something starts going wrong."
"I know the rules," I smile and walk over to Hughie. "You ok?" I ask him and he just hugs me. I feel his phone buzz, he pulls it out, "it's Annie." He looks at me, "you need to come with me."
"Always."

We get to the park bench, I watch Hughie go up to Annie and sit. I stay back by a tree. After I few minutes I see Annie pull Hughie up, I run up. "This is about Compound V. It's gives the supes their powers. Vought will do anything to cover it up."
"No we're born like this," Annie says.
"We're not we're laboratory experiments," I say and I look at Hughie, "I'll explain later."
"Your not a supe," Annie says to me and I grab her arms blasting them enough to just feel her bones. "You are a supe."
"Annie I'm so sorry," Annie just stares at us, "Annie annie," a shot get fired hitting Annie and I turn around. "Fucking run Hughie and Athena!"
Dad shots her again. "I'm so sorry."
"Get the fuck away from her," Hughie grabs my hand as we run towards my dad. "We didn't ask for your help."
"Yeah it look likes you have all under control. Kid?"
"Dad I'm fine you didn't hit me." We continue running.
