A Shadow's Diamond

Chapter 9

Sonic walks up to Diamond and puts an arm around her shoulders causing him to pull himself close to her. He asks with a smirk, "So, Diamond, how old are you?" 

Diamond looks at Sonic's arm being wrapped around her as she picks up his hand and unwraps him from her. She answers, "I am 56."

Sonic's jaw drops as he stares at Diamond with disbelief. He backs up a bit as he asks, "You-You're..."

"Old, I know. I have been old for a while." Diamond states.

Olympia asks, "Why do you care on how old she is? She is already taken."

"Taken?!" Sonic and Shadow say in unison.

Amy claps her hands together, "Congratulations!"

Silver looks over at Shadow to see that it's obvious that his heart is very much broken. He feels bad for the guy until he looks over at Diamond, "I have a question for you."

"Go ahead." Diamond turns her attention onto Silver.

"What did you do in your early life?" Silver asks concerned.

Diamond looks over at Ray and Olympia. Olympia nods her head as Ray motions her head to go ahead and tell the people around them.

Diamond looks back at the people surrounding her, "I am originally from the Ark."

Shadow's eyes went wide. He knew that she was familiar, but he didn't realize that she was that familiar.

"I was created and born on the Ark. I was the protector of Maria Robotnik, Gerald Robotnik, Shadow, and the kittens. I used to make sure that there was no threats on the Ark before a fire in Lab 4 happened." Diamond says as she looks down at the ground.

Tails asks next, "How did you survive?"

Diamond closes her eyes, "I grabbed Snow and Petal and flew to a nearby escape capsule. It was a tight squeeze, but I managed to fit the 3 of us in there."

"What happened next?" Amy asks this time.

Olympia hugs her friend, "Give her time."

Diamond turns to her friend while opening her eyes, "Don't worry about me."

Olympia stares at her friend and nods.

Diamond looks up at everyone, "I landed on Earth before I knew it, an explosion happened and I ended up on Mobias with the kittens. I met my now current husband, Dexter, as he helped take care of us and gave us a home when we had nowhere else to go. He helped me get a job at a local clothing store, but when I went out to get some coffee years later, I met Olympia and Ray. Olympia used to work at a comic bookstore while Ray works at a tattoo parlor. We became the greatest of friends even though they are much younger than me, I still have Dexter who is around my age."

Shadow speaks up, "How did you age?"

"I aged by being out of the capsule. I kept the kittens in the capsule so that they could be safe while I tried to find places to be safe at." Diamond stares into Shadow's eyes. She soon looks away for she knows that she can no longer be with the man that her heart was set on, but Dexter came along and stole it. She is happy that she is with Dexter and had kids with him, but she is beginning to wonder what would happen if she ended up with Shadow.

Olympia says with a happy tone, "I love your children btw, Dia. They are so cute!"

"Kids?" Sonic says shocked.

Diamond nods, "I had 5 kids with Dexter. Their names are Esmerelda, Gin, Orange, War, and Sword."

"How many boys and girls?" Amy asks as though she is intrigued by the information being given out.

"2 girls and 3 boys. That is not including Snow and Petal." Diamond said with a slight smile.

"Wow." Sonic says in awe.

Silver says with a smile, "I am happy that you grew out of a traumatic time."

Diamond nods, "It took me time to get over what happened, but the scars are still there from when I used to be on the Ark. Dexter would always let me vent out about my experiences on the Ark. Sometimes, his memory does fail him, but he becomes so happy when I tell him about the Ark."

Shadow looks down as he soon realizes that all of the memories from way before Maria's death started to come back to him. Diamond has been in his past and he was in love with her. He almost kissed her one time, but that makes him cringe on the inside by how soon that almost happened. Now he wishes that he can go back in time and kiss her before the fire, it would change everything.

Diamond looks over at Shadow, "Shadow, I know that you used to have feelings for me."

"Shadow used to have feelings for someone other than Maria? That's hilarious." Sonic chuckles.

Shadow glares at Sonic to which causes him to stop chuckling. He looks back at Diamond, "I am sorry, I should have taken my shot with you."

"Not your fault." Diamond says as she walks up to him. She places a hand onto his cheek, "Besides, I am too old for you. You look as though you never aged while I have to dye my fur and hair to make myself in being young."

Shadow immediately hugs Diamond, "Than at least don't die. I can't lose another."

Diamond hugs Shadow back, "I won't die, but that doesn't mean I won't help you find a girl for yourself."

Shadow smiles at the remark and holds her close. Being near her is enough for him at this point.
