A Shadow's Diamond

Chapter 2

Sonic and Silver look at each other with shocked expressions. After everything that they have went through, why would Shadow just suddenly give everything up? Especially something for worthless information that can be discovered without Eggman.

Sonic furrows his eyes as he stares at Shadow with pure hatred. He whispers over to Silver, "I swear that I am going to beat Shadow into a pulp."

Silver whispers back, "Wait a second. Maybe Shadow is only joining them because of information."

"Information that we could have gained from Tails' help. This is beyond not alright." Sonic turns his gaze onto Silver.

Silver stares at Sonic before looking down to see Shadow staring up at the vent before looking away. Were they too loud?

Eggman asks, "Something wrong?"

Shadow stares at Eggman while crossing his arms, "Everything is alright."

Eggman nods and looks over at Scourge, "In order to determine that you are loyal to us, I want you to kill Sonic and Silver the hedgehog."

Silver's eyes went wide as he is about ready to leave, "We should leave."

"No, we wait for an answer." Sonic says.

Shadow doesn't say anything as he heads for the door. Leaving without another word.

Eggman looks at Scourge and Infinite. He leans back into his seat, "Go kill him."

Scourge and Infinite nods while Scourge smile wide. Both leave the room to chase after Shadow.

Silver whispers to Sonic, "We have to warn Shadow!"

Sonic nods and begins to crawl out of the vent with Silver following him. Trying not to make so many sounds. The vent is noisy when crawling through, Sonic and Silver have to be careful not to let Eggman know that they are in the vents.

It took the duo 10 minutes to get out of the vents and they are met with Shadow on the roof of the building. They stare at Shadow as he stares back at them.

"What the hell, Shadow?! You are just going to abandon us for some information!" Sonic yells at Shadow.

Shadow has his arms crossed as he glares at Sonic, "I am not after you idiots, but we don't have much time. I set this building on self-destruct before leaving."

"Why should we trust you? You chose Eggman after everything we went through!" Sonic clenches his fist till his gloves starts to make some noise. The fabric stretching while being gripped on too hard.

Silver puts a hand onto Sonic's shoulder, "We should listen to Shadow's side of things, maybe he has a reason for things."

"Yeah right! We could have easily found out about information from the Ark thanks with the help from Tails!" Sonic shoves Silver off him.

Shadow doesn't show much emotion as he closes his eyes, "I wasn't going to actually join Eggman. I know that Tails could get us the information and so can G.U.N, but Eggman was a bit more willing to give me information that I needed about my past before Maria's death." He reopens them to stare at the 2 hedgehogs before him.

"So, what is it about Lab 4 that is so significant to you?" Silver asks concerned.

Before Shadow could answer, the building begins to shake. The floor begins to collapse as the building begins to be destroyed from inside-out.

Sonic turns to Silver, "Fly us out of here!"

Silver uses his telekinesis to get the 3 hedgehogs away from the building as fast as he can.

Sonic and Shadow watch the building explode into millions of pieces.

Sonic turns his head towards Shadow, "I guess that you weren't kidding about the building exploding."

"You are an idiot who doesn't think." Shadow says while glaring at the blue hedgehog.

"Hurtful."

"Good."

Silver sighs as he flies the 3 of them to Tails' place where him, Amy, and Cream are at.

Eggman crawls through the metal pieces as he sees Infinite and Scourge climbing their way out of the debris as well. He clenches his fists in frustration as he slams his fists against the metal, "Damn that hedgehog!"

Scourge holds his head, "He really got us."

Infinite fixes his mask and not said a word.

Eggman pulls himself out of the pile around him and stands on top of the rummage. He dusts himself off, "We will get back at that pesky rodent, but for now. We know who was in the fire in Lab 4."

"Who?"

"Diamond the Snow Leopard. She was the project before Shadow, I have been doing my own research about Lab 4 and found out that she is the guardian for Maria, Gerald, and Shadow before Shadow became the guard for Maria and the one who would get my grandfather's revenge." Eggman pulls out a dark blue flash drive. He holds it up to where Infinite and Scourge can see it. He smiles wide, "This is our key in finding our precious Diamond."

Scourge smiles, "Great!"

"How do we know if she would join us?" Infinite asks in concern.

Eggman lowers the flash drive and puts a hand onto his hip, "Leave that to me." He puts the flash drive in his pocket before going over to where his hovercraft is. He sits down in it after taking metal scrap off it. He becomes comfortable in the seat and pulls out the flash drive. He puts it into a holder for the flash drive and it starts projecting in where Diamond might be at. He turns towards Scourge and Infinite, "I will send you both the coordinates in where she is, but you might want to start going before those hedgehogs find her before us."

Scourge and Infinite nods before running off.

Eggman sends the coordinates to Scourge and Infinite before going up into the air and following them.
