"Dada, I want those." Aidan pointed the chocolates with his lips.
"Later. Daddy's still shopping, maybe later?" I smiled at him.
He pouted. "'Kay."
I pushed the cart he was sitting in as we follow Joshia in front. We are shopping for tomorrow night, for Noche Buena. We already have almost everything at the house, but Aidan requested a mac and cheese so here we are, shopping for ingredients.
We usually don't prepare a lot for Christmas since our friends often bring foods as they come to our house but because Aidan wanted to invite his classmates over, Joshia decided to prepare something for them to eat and to take home.
"Will Tito Maui and Tito Jake come? I miss them already." He mumbled.
"Maybe yes, maybe no." I shrugged.
He frowned. "Not spending Christmas with me again, psh."
"You said something?" I asked, pretending to be clueless.
He shook his head while smilling. "Nothing! Let's go fast, Dada!"
Ngumisi lang ako at binilisan ang pagtulak sa cart. Joshia looked at me meaningfully. I just winked and slowed down. He put four boxes of cheese, three macaroni packs and sauces. Since nandito na rin kami, binili na namin ng papasko si Aidan.
"'No gusto mo? Dakutin mo agad bago magbago isip ni Daddy mo." Sabi ko.
"Chocolates! And jelly ace!" He quickly exclaimed.
Tumawa ako at tinulak ang cart papunta sa Candy section. Joshia followed behind us. Aidan grabbed everything he sees. He loves jelly ace so much so he grabbed all of them. He promised to share it with his classmates tomorrow.
"Tama na yan, magagalit na si Daddy." Awat ko sa kanya ng makita ang nakakunot noong si Joshia.
"Okay! Let's go! Let's go!" Energetic nyang sabi.
"Gusto mo?" Joshia went beside me with a jar of jelly beans in his hand.
I grinned. "Yes please."
Tumango sya at nilagay yun sa cart. Nagdirecho na kami sa counter at dahil Christmas eve tonight ay marami ang tao dito. Good thing we got our charmer with us. Pinauna kami sa pila, nauto nang magaling kong kapatid ang mga costumers.
"Tamang desisyon na isama ka, 'nak." Kinagat ko ang matabang pisngi ni Aidan.
"Dada! It hurts!" He frowned and pushed my face away.
Tumawa lang ako. Nakakaiyamot rin ang isang 'to e. Manang mana sa ama, maaarte.
"Carry this, Aidan get down and take this." Joshia ordered.
I carried the boxes, Joshia carried the big bags while Aidan carried his candies. We brought the Jeep with us and put all the groceries at the back. I drove home since Joshia did it earlier.
"Nasa bahay na raw sina Pete, may dalang palabok." Sabi ni Joshia habang hawak ang phone.
"Kakarating lang raw nina Rocco." Dagdag nya pa.
Sumulyap ako sa salamin para makita si Aidan. Muntik na 'kong humalakhak ng makitang lumalaki ang tenga nya at naniningkit pa ang mga mata. Halatang nang-chi-chismis e.
"Tumawag si Maui kanina, hindi raw tuloy flight nila." Joshia dropped the bomb.
I looked at Aidan worriedly. Gaya ng inaasahan ko, bumagsak ang balikat nya at kagat na ang pang-ibabang labi. Nagaalalang tumingin ako kay Joshia na nakakunot na ang noo. Papaiyak na kasi si Aidan sa likod, nagpipigil lang.
