-Danger In The Air-

Japan would soon meet either its end or its rebirth as its destiny, and soon the world itself would depend on this day.

A day that already knew a lot of death and would know much, much, more of it in the following hours.

The sun shined down on the half-destroyed town below, still smoking, still bleeding, still crumbling, from the carnage caused by a partial gun devil.

The dust was carried off by the winds blowing through the area, through the silent town of death and battle.

"Will you tell me where you hid Denji?"

"As if I'd ever reveal where your prized pawn is."

"I thought so. Always so close mouthed."

"And you always so cold and calculating."

The silence could never be heavier and yet it bothered none. The stench of danger was in the air, any being knowing to flee.

The crows perched on railings, lamps and cables. The rat skittered on the ground, through the walls and underground.

"You have quite a track record in getting me shot by the gun devil."

Sei still stared at Makima's back, standing on the rooftop she had chosen to wait for her on. Her sister does love a good show and there is nothing more theatrical than an open rooftop confrontation.

"You are just in the wrong place at the wrong time, like always."

Makima stood pretty and proper like always, with her innate elegance, hands cupped behind her back and heels together. Sei, not so much. Most of her weight on the left leg with the hip popped out, her right hand in her pocket but her thumb out, other hanging by her side.

"That's my forte. Always getting in the way of your plans." She shook her head. "You could have avoided all of this if you just would have stopped caring about controlling everything, even someone that's you."

"Now now." Makima waved a finger in the air. "Don't think you know what I should have done."

Sei sighed, of course.

"But you can't control who you want to control the most."

If people thought Makima was scary when she smiled, they'd have nightmares now.

The glare and scowl on her face when she face Sei was not something any human had ever seen, something reserved for her and her alone.

"You should have died that day, how can such a thing exist?"

A long time ago it would have hurt her to have her sister say that but currently she didn't care.

"As I told you before, domination doesn't need control." She grinned and tilted her head. "Who's the weakest?"

She got what she wanted, hastily lifting her arm away from her and bending, feeling the blast of energy and hearing it explode part of a buildings wall, Makima holding up a finger gun aimed at her.

"I should have never let you get away that day."

"Yeah." She pulled her hand from her pocket. "That's your biggest mistake."

Makima kept glaring but the scowl was now a small frown, Sei still grinning... How odd, usually it is the opposite sister that has the expression each are currently wearing on their faces.

"Well second biggest." Sei knew that simply saying Makima made a mistake was something that warranted even more hate. "Sure the first one was to let me live when you did."

"And the second?" The yellow eyed sister asked.

"You let me meet them. Oh you have no idea what portal to hell you have opened through such a choice."

"Then would you like to see her again?"

Finally, the expressions returned to their rightful owners, a smile for Makima and an angry glare for Sei.

Sure she knew exactly what would happen, anyone not her that is under Makima's control will behave exactly how she wanted, but that didn't ease the anger seeing the weapon hybrids gather around her at her finger snap, more specifically one of them.

It still pissed her off to see Makima's grasp on Quanxi.

A brow twisted.

The straw that broke this very patient camel's back.

One deep breath.

"MAKIMA!!"
