My Silent Undoing (Frank Iero)

CHAPTER SIXTEEN

CHAPTER SIXTEEN:

Running around the neighborhood is proving to be harder than it used to be. I keep feeling faint and dizzy.

It's early in the morning before school, and I am starting the day with a run. I am now at a 90.2. I feel so proud of how far I have come.

Frank's birthday is tomorrow on Saturday. He's turning 17 and I can't wait to celebrate it with him.

He invited Kara and Dom to the party as well. He really likes my good friends. Which for some reason makes me happy.

I get home to go take a quick shower before school.

I quickly dressed in a t-shirt and jeans. The t-shirt is very baggy, and it makes me smile. I am wearing my tightest jeans, and if I didn't put a belt on it would fall down.

I find myself laying down on my bed after the shower. I am freezing. I quickly hide under the covers. Since I am so small I feel so cold all the time.

I almost fall asleep, but I need to get ready before Mikey comes to pick me up for school.

I walk down the stairs quietly hoping not to wake up my mom...and Rob.

I open the door, and see Mikey getting in his car next door. I walk over to him.

"Morning." I say to him.

"Hey." He looks like he's still sleeping.

We get in the car, and are on the way to get Frank.

"Did you buy Frank a gift yet?" Mikey asks me.

"Yes of course. Did you?" Mikey looks shyly ahead, and I see him blush in embarrassment.

"Not yet." He admits sheepishly.

"Mikey his birthday is tomorrow." I chuckle. "We can go after school, and buy it together, ok?"

"That's perfect." He smiles.

It's almost midnight, and I don't want to be home anymore. My mom and Rob are making so much noise. There's only one place where I want to be right now. I grab a bag, and pack some stuff, and I walk slowly down the stairs.

I walk out the door. I feel free.

I walk to Frank's house. 11:58. Close enough. I then knock on the door. I know his mom is working till late tonight.

Suddenly Frank is opening the door.

"Lila," He whispers.

"Frank," I smile.

"What are you doing here?" He asks. I look at my watch 11:59.

"Your birthday is in a minute. I thought we could celebrate the beginning together." Then a small smile comes on. "I also was tired of being at home...with them making too much noise." Frank looks at me, and I know he understands. It's overwhelming how well he understands me, and how I understand him. I look again...midnight.

"There's only one place I'd rather be when I am not home, and it's here...so...Happy Birthday Frank." I then embrace him in my arms.

He nuzzles my neck, and my breath hitches. I feel so safe in his arms. I sigh contently.

"Thank you. For everything. I am so glad to have you in my life." He whispers in my ear, and I can't help but shiver from his warm breath hitting my neck.

"I'm so glad I met you Frank." I pull away a little, and kiss him on the cheeck.

"Come inside," He says while grabbing my hand, and guiding me inside and closes the front door and locks it. We walk upstairs to his bedroom.
