Dynamic Duets

"The Secret Society of Superheros is now in session," Blaine said as he banged a gavel. "It is the purpose of this club to fight injustice, to write all of that which is wrong, and to preserve truth, justice, and peace in the walls of McKinley High. First order of business, roll call. Go!"

"Asian Persuasion here," said Tina. "My superpower is being the mistress of manipulation."

"Dreamer Girl," said Bailey. "My superpower is helping people with their biggest dreams."

"Emo Vampire here," Adalynn said, flashing her fangs. "My superpower is sleeping all day and living it up at night."

"These are the Trouble Twins," Bailey said, pointing to where Maya and Ava were sitting on a playmat on the floor. "Their superpower is causing mischief."

"Me good!" Maya gasped, placing a hand to her chest in mock offense, something she had picked up from Julian. "Awa bad!" She pointed to her twin, who giggled and tried to bite her finger. "No!" she said, hitting her sister on the head. "Bad Awa."

"Maya, no hitting," Bailey sternly said, giving the twins a look. "Ava, don't eat your sister's fingers."

"Me feed," Ava pouted.

Adalynn pulled a bag of Cheerios out from her bag and sat down on the floor with the twins. She opened it up and gave each one a small handful.

"Rios!" the twins exclaimed, excitedly reaching for the cereal.

"Blonde Chameleon here," Sam said in a dumb voice. "I can impersonate anybody. George W. Bush. Heh."

"Tarantula Head here," said Joe. "My superpower is lashing you with my dreads."

"Sweet 'n Spicy. Here," Sugar said as Maya and Ava clapped. "My superpower is money."

"Second order of business, inducting new members into our ever-swelling ranks," Blaine continued. "Candidates, come forth."

Artie, Brittany, and Becky all came in wearing superhero costumes.

"Excited to be here, Blaine," said Artie.

"First of all, there are no civilian identities in here, okay?" Blaine reminded the boy. "I'm Nightbird, the Nocturnal Avenger. And, second of all, I hope you're not trying to pass yourself off as a certain telepathic leader of a certain group of mutants, because that would be a copyright violation."

"Calm down, Warbler," Adalynn scoffed as she gave the twins more Cheerios. "It's not like this is a TV show or anything."

"Uh... I'm Dr. Y, and my superpower is wheelies?" Artie frowned, confused.

"Welcome Dr. Y," said Blaine. "Next."

"I'm Queen Bee and I can sting like a bitch," Becky said, making a buzzing noise.

"Beech!" Ava giggled as she ate a Cheerio.

"No swearing in front of the babies," Bailey sighed as Tina rubbed her back and gave her a small smile.

"Welcome, Queen Bee. Next."

"I'm the Human Brain," Brittany said in a mysterious voice.

"Yay, Bri!" Maya cheered, clapping.

"That's the best superhero name ever," Adalynn nodded her head.

"Welcome, Human Brain."

Dottie ran into the room and said there was an emergency in the choir room. Adalynn picked up Ava as Bailey grabbed Maya. They dropped everything and followed the freshman to the choir room, all freezing in their tracks when they saw what was missing.
