"The drought was the very worst. Oh-oh, oh-oh. When the flowers that we'd grown together died of thirst. It was months and months of back and forth. Oh-oh, oh-oh. You're still all over me. Like a wine-stained dress I can't wear anymore"
Adalynn couldn't believe a year had gone by so quickly. She had survived her first real year of adulthood, and accomplished so much along the way. She was engaged to the love of her life, she was one step closer to making her dream of being an actor come true, and she had managed to stay sober even with all the changes in her life.
"Hung my head as I lost the war. And the sky turned black like a perfect storm. Rain came pouring down. When I was drowning, that's when I could finally breathe. And by morning, gone was any trace of you. I think I am finally clean."
If someone had told her two years ago that she had a bright future ahead of her, she wouldn't have believed them. But now, here she was, 19 years old with the whole world at her feet. For the first time in years, she was glad that her suicide attempt all those years before had failed, otherwise she would have missed out on so much.
She never would have met Bailey or the twins. She never would have fallen in love with the blonde beauty she'd always admire from afar. And she would've missed out on all the opportunities she had from being in Glee Club.
"Ten months sober, I must admit, just because you're clean don't mean you don't miss it. Ten months older, I won't give in. Now that I'm clean, I'm never gonna risk it."
Yes, she still had bad days. Sometimes those voices would be so loud to the point that it was overwhelming and she was begging for some kind of release the only way she knew how, but her friends were always there to help her get through it.
"The drought was the very worst. Oh-oh, oh-oh. When the flowers that we'd grown together died of thirst. The rain came pouring down. When I was drowning, that's when I could finally breathe. And by morning, gone was any trace of you. I think I am finally clean."
She didn't know how she managed to do it, but she was so glad she did.
"Oh, oh. Finally clean. Think I'm finally clean. Oh, oh. Oh-oh, oh-oh. Oh, oh, oh. Think I'm finally clean."

"Is it normal for a network to send a writer to hang out with the star to figure out the show?" Artie asked as everyone gathered in the Kurtcheltana apartment for dinner.
"Only when their star's incredibly interesting," Rachel said as Julian rolled his eyes. "Mary Halloran is a genius. She sold her first script when she was 14 years old."
"I just don't like the idea of someone crashing our Monday night dinner," Kurt frowned.
"Honestly," Adalynn nodded in agreement. "I mean, we're all so busy, so this is one of the only times when we're all able to hang out together."
"No, but the point is for her to really see my life and understand my essence, and you guys are so much of that besides my work, my talent, and my ambition," Rachel explained as someone knocked on the door.
"That's probably Britt," Bailey said as she put down the towel in her hands to go and answer it.
"Mommy, is Tana coming too?" Maya asked.
"Auntie Tana had to go out of town to film a commercial," Bailey said as she opened the door.
"Britt!" Ava exclaimed, jumping down from where she sat on the couch with Oreo to go and hug her aunt.
"Hi, cutie," Brittany smiled as she picked up the younger twin. "Have you been a good girl?"
"Mhm!" Ava nodded with a smile. "Ada and Mommy learn me how to be nice."
