["D/A" narrates —A.A.]
"You're in school here. Interference here doesn't count," El said, "—much."
"Can you interfere some more, Lady El?" In school here? Planet Earth: school of Learning? No, she must mean the School of Wisdom.
"Maybe I can.
"I've got a bunch of questions."
"Of course you do," she said, still smiling. "Go ahead."
So I did. I asked her about Jay's exploitation of the word remember: how it seemed that he was testing my memory of something he had said before, and at the same time suggesting I remember his words, then and there, and those yet to come. And his words from before came (I DO remember) when at last I got my impatient-self out of the way! Also, I asked her about his similarly twisting things when he said "input, input, input" in response to my sometimes struggles with input, then turned it around by asking me what I did with input I DID NOT struggle with. All El said in response to that was: "Energy moves in waves. Hills and valleys. And sometimes to learn what you need to learn you have to ride the ups and downs."
"Yeah, I know all about that."
"Do you? Do you realize that by riding the waves you are teaching yourself balance? And that by realizing balance, you, in effect, smooth things out?"
"I'm not there yet, am I?"
"No, but we're working on it."
I asked her about Love, Wisdom and Power: "El, how do these three relate to Truth, and to the Us-entity, and to our telepathic alliance? I recall Jay saying they do. Relate, that is."
"First, tell me how Love, Wisdom and Power relate to each other."
"Umm . . . well, I suppose each has both of the others within it."
"Agreed. But if you are going to teach—not just others, but also yourself—you will soon discover that what you just said is arguable at certain levels of awareness. We like adventure, right?"
"Mm-hmm."
"Then it might be best to keep the idea of Power having Love and Wisdom within It—and, of course, Truth contains all three, and so on and so forth—as if it were a clue, as if you were holding on to it within your adventure and waiting to see what comes. Similarly, you have a Soul, yes?"
"Of course I do!"
"Tell me about it."
"I—I can't."
"Why not?"
"I don't really know much about it," I said. And that was the god's-honest truth.
"Are you sure?"
"Yes. No . . . I mean, I know I have a Soul-self."
"Because someone told you you did?" El's eyes. Man she sure liked bulging them, brows way up, when I needed to do the math myself.
'Because some told you!' she hammered me telepathically.
I should have known better. "And that's not worth very much, is it?"
"What would be worth something, love, as far as the Soul goes? You do the math."
So I did. I knelt, elbows resting on the stone well wall, and looked into the blue-black waters, watching as silvery lightning-strikes zipped atop the surface. Some were crisscrossing . . . safely, I suppose. Some seemed out of order, bouncing of the old well wall. "Well, El, I guess life could be seen as an ongoing adventure, and that we are all here on Planet Earth developing our Souls. Developing our potential. Who we really are." I turned and looked at her: "Realization, El? That's got to be worth something."
