Y/n was already awake when the sun lit up the day, still in her nightwear, sitting on the edge of the window, watching Xavier sleep peacefully, his hair spread across the pillow and a few strands falling over his face.

A few minutes before, while going to the bathroom, she noticed that her hair was now completely (reader's hair color), from the outside she was human, mortal.

Y/n found herself thinking about how in the last few days she felt less the heat Xavier exuded, after all when they met each other, her whole body was cold, no heat, no life, now her body was warmer and matched his heat.

Inside, things were still adjusting, she realized how important breathing was, oxygen was now necessary, before it was just inhaling and exhaling out of habit or instinct, her body used breathing to show sensations, like when she got bloodlust and got wild and panting, or when she was excited or overstimulated, now she could really feel what it was like to be panting and tired.

She still possessed enormous strength, still had a keen sense of smell, her blood was still black, could no longer easily become invisible, her biggest fear was losing her wings as happened to Ruadh, but she didn't fail to notice that in moments of adrenaline she could easily use her skills at full power, she wondered if that would end too.

Y/n realized what it was like to feel hungry or thirsty, needing nutrients and things like that, despite these changes, she liked what it was like to feel alive, really need external things to live.

Before, she was depressed, the lack of memories, the manipulation of her father, the death in life before meeting Xavier, what before was the desire to be mortal to finally die and end all suffering, now it was the desire to live free and enjoy the little things with the ones she loved.

She was anxious, wanted to find out as soon as possible who the Hyde was and who controlled it, because maybe she became completely mortal and couldn't defend people from the monster in time.

Xavier seemed unconcerned the whole time, she hated to admit that he got more and more suspicious, but she kept it in the back of her mind, he couldn't have some involvement in this, or could.

Y/n had a feeling that something bad would happen, or had already happened, when she heard a knock on the door and went to see who it was.

– Oh, good morning, miss L/n. Well, not so good, I have bad news, the Mayor... – started Miss Thornhill when Y/n opened the door.

– He died? – with a shocked expression, almost in a whisper Y/n asked interrupting her.

– Yes, apparently he wasn't as stable as they said, he died in the middle of the night. The funeral will be this morning at 10 am so I'm checking everyone who wants to pay condolences... – Thornhill spoke calmly and in a neutral tone.

– Yeah, me and Xavier will pay our condolences to his family and attend the funeral of course. – Y/n said in a low tone interrupting Miss Thornhill again.

– See you there then, miss L/n. – she said giving a sad smile and walking away as Y/n closed the door with a suspicious expression.

Y/n sighed and sat next to Xavier who was still sleeping and took the locks of hair from his face, with the soft but sudden touch he opened his eyes slowly.

– Good morning my love. – she said caressing his face, he smiled and hugged her around the waist with one arm – Well, maybe not the best thing to hear on saturday morning but... the Mayor is dead.

– What? I thought he was stable. –  he said sitting up and wide awake.

– That's what I thought too. Thornhill just told me he died in the middle of the night, his funeral is going to be... – she grabbed her phone off the bedside table and checked the time – In an hour. – she said putting her phone back in place.
