29: The Search

"Ayato-Sama, I've brought you some tea." Thoma knocked on the door.

"Come in."

Ayato was looking at some papers when Thoma entered the room. "Just set it right there, love." He cleared some room for the tray Thoma held.

Thoma peered over at what Ayato was working on. "What are you doing? Those aren't the usual documents you get."

"I'm searching for other reports about your father. I'm trying to figure out where he could be." Ayato said. "Some people claim that he was seen carrying a bag of unknown material over his shoulder. They assumed that maybe he was a merchant, selling material. The police investigated him because he was loitering around, looking suspicious."

"Ah.. I figured that may happen." Thoma stood right behind Ayato, chest grazing the back of his head as he hovered over him. He held his hands behind his back. "Do you need my help? I mean.. he's my father, so.."

"Your help is needed. As the son of Tom, you'd commonly have a lot of information about him." Ayato said. He noticed how Thoma didn't seem as worried as a missing person's child usually would be.

"Your father.. wasn't he a Knight of Favonius?" Ayato asked.

"Oh, yeah. He used to be a knight. But after he got a vision, he decided to retire early and became a normal fisherman. I'm not sure why he left, though. I'm guessing that he left because he was done with being part of the knights. My mom also had a vision, but I couldn't really get far into that because she passed." Thoma said. He put his hands on Ayato's shoulders. "Since her deceasing, my father has always carried her weapon with him. It was called a Wolf Fang Mace, except it's not spiky like those other ones. It was a cylinder shape with blades hidden in the gaps."

"Your mother must have been scary." Ayato said. He softly blushed at Thoma's contact against him. "Do you have any idea for why your father would come here?"

"I would think to see my mother's remaining siblings. She's the fourth with 5 other siblings. Her oldest sibling was defeated in a war-battle here in Inazuma, but the others are still alive." Thoma said. "One time they came to Mondstadt because my mom wanted them to see me. They were so cool. There was.. a lot of hugging.."

"Huh, I wouldn't know. I've never met them." Ayato said. "Hm.. Do you know where they live? Perhaps they have an idea of where he could be."

"Oh! Uhm.. I'm sorry, I'm not sure." Thoma muttered.

"It's alright. We can go to the Commissioner's Office. They keep a list of where people live." Ayato said. To be more clear, the people in Inazuma need a permit for owning a house, so the police keep a list of that. "Do they live separately?"

"Actually, they live altogether. Well.. until they find somebody and move out. But they're all single, so.." Thoma muttered.

"Alright, to the police department we go." Ayato stood up, holding some papers for the missing person report.

"Mister Haru-Ying used to live in a pleasing shelter in Watatsumi Island. When you get there, it's across from Bourou Village." Said a patrol soldier, looking at a list of papers. "Yashiro Commissioner, may I ask what this is for?"

By the way, Haru-Ying is the oldest sibling that died in that battle lots of years ago.

"We need to ask questions about Thoma's missing father. The people who live there are his mother's siblings." Ayato explained.
