(Ooh spicy stuff)
-Kaeya Angst
"They're dead." Kaeya said.
Thoma didn't know what to say. "O-Oh.. I-I.. I'm so sorry..-"
"No, no, it's fine. I can tell you." Kaeya kept a forged smile on his face.
"You don't have to if it makes you sad." Thoma said.
"But I want to. I guess it's because of who you are, why I want to share the story with you." Kaeya said.
Thoma stared at him.
"When it happened.. 500 years ago. The War of Khaenri-ah started. All I remember was seeing my dear sister reaching out for me. After that crushing attack that started the war, which was from Rex Lapis, occurred, I went unconscious. When I woke up, I saw spears and blades made by geo energy punctured into the ground in every single acre of the land. Everything was red, on fire, destroyed.."
Kaeya sighed. "I can still hear my sister calling for my name. It was because of her vision, that she was able to save me. She used all her energy to shield me with cryo. I woke up to see her deceased from blood loss after she ripped off her own arm just reach me."
-For context, a geo spear stabbed her arm and trapped her, so she had to rip it off-
"After seeing my beloved sister dead on the ground, things couldn't get worse when I saw my other two siblings dead in the debris, reaching out for each other. Those images just won't leave my mind." Kaeya clenched his fists. "I should be mad at all the gods who participated in the war. But it's because of Rex Lapis, that my siblings are dead. His ability is what killed them.."
"My siblings, my friends, my people.. And my home was destroyed. Somehow, I forgive Barbatos. He may have been a part of the destruction, but he's the reason why I'm here. He used his powers to extend my life 500 years later." Kaeya then said.
The blonde was sweating. There was so much to process. He felt as though he couldn't catch it all.
"Of course, I didn't leave that hole unscathed. My body was filled with scratches, hence the bandages, and I covered my right eye so I wouldn't be suspected for a criminal. Diluc's father was nice enough to let me into the family, but now he's gone, too.." The Captain stopped for a moment, as if thinking.
"I don't blame Diluc for saying that it's my fault his father is dead. For all I know, it's true. My father left my family when I was young. He left us to be taken care of by the people of Khaenri'ah. I can't even remember what he looked like." Kaeya muttered the last part. "He just.."
Thoma couldn't help but hug the other. "Kaeya, you've said enough. Don't beat yourself up anymore just to tell me your story."
Kaeya gently hugged him back. "So you've heard what you needed to hear?"
"I'm sorry, Kaeya. Back then, I was nervous to be around you because you always had that empty expression on your face. I never knew that you went through all of that." Thoma said.
Kaeya leaned into Thoma's touch, face nuzzled on the blonde's shoulder. "Thank you, T. And, I don't blame you. My siblings and other people always found me menacing because of my empty stare. Sometimes I did that scare to scare them."
"..Do you remember what your siblings look like?" Thoma asked.
They separated from the hug.
"Yes, we all have blue hair with a light streak in a different parts of our hair. My big sister, Nila, had eyes that were blue on top and gold colored on the bottom. My oldest brother, Takeo, had golden eyes, and my other brother, Shiro, had blue eyes. I'm the youngest." Kaeya explained their looks. He also told how they acted. Nila was a kind big sister, Takeo was kind of a coward, but pure, and Shiro was always annoyed by Takeo's crying, despite him being younger.
