-Some fighting(starting with it)

-Hugging

Their blades clashed. The two were pushed from each other, stopping for a moment of rest.

Sakure smirked. "You're going easy on me, aren't you? Are you aware that you're stronger than me?"

Ayato's brows lowered in irritation. "It'd be nice if you answered my questions."

Sakura straightened her posture, lowering her blades at her sides. "Fine, fine. I guess we can take a quick break."

Ayato did the same, putting his sword in his sheathe. "What did you do to Thoma?"

"This question again." Sakure scoffed. "All I did was get a blood sample and tied him up."

"There's more to that. How much did you hurt him?" Ayato would ask. Every time he asked, Sakure gave the same answer. "Where did you hurt him?"

"I just sliced his waist deep enough to ooze some blood. I may have slashed his collarbone by accident, but I forget if I did." Sakure scratched her head with two fingers. Then, she smirked. "And if I did forget.. it was because I was too focused on the wound he gave me."

Ayato just stared at her, his expression staying the same.

Sakure lifted her right arm, showing the bleeding bandage that Ayato saw when she was disguised as Thoma. "He's a fighter, that Thoma. The cut is deep, and is still bleeding. My hand is starting to go numb."

Her hand twitched from the blood loss. "If it weren't for him cutting me, his wounds may have been deeper."

..She's being honest. Thoma really did cut her. But it was in self defense because she came after him. Ayato thought.

Sakure listened to the wind. "Well, my time here is out, I may see you later!"

Ayato heaved, taking a step towards her. "Wait, I still-" But he stopped when smoke burst at Sakure's feet, blocking her from his vision.

The smoke faded a bit, and Sakure was nowhere to be seen.

Suddenly a small object dispersed the smoke. Ayato noticed it was that clear ball flying towards his face at a high speed.

He grabbed his sword and sliced the ball in half with one swift move. The halves flew past him and landed onto the ground.

"..." He was silent. Even after leaving, she tried to take me. I suppose the one she works for called for a retreat. At least she isn't one of those arrogant opponents. She knew I could beat her.

Ayato's eyes widened. "Thoma!" He sprinted back towards the estate, remembering that Sakure had said he was still there.

~

..How could I let this happen..? Ayato's eyes stared in shock.

He had found Thoma in the closet of his room, hands tied behind his back and his feet tied together. He saw where Sakure had scarred him, on his waist.

Ayato hovered his hand over the wound. The bleeding stopped. Thoma must have tightened his muscles to stop it. He gently held Thoma in his arms.

He grit his teeth, feeling himself climax to tears. "I'm sorry, Thoma. I'm so sorry.."

"I'm.."

He opened his eyes, and noticed that he was staring at the ceiling. The man was lying on the bed. He felt two hands gently holding his face on both sides.
