I think you're wrong this time, dad. How is Guy going to surpass me when all he does is show off and be reckless? Kakashi cussed to himself, the desire to choke Guy brewing in the back of his mind. He had been chosen by the Third Hokage and Minato to lead the team comprising of Guy, Rin, and Akira. The Stone village was back at it again. This time, their best shinobis were planning to summon something. Some sort of creature they want to weaponise. There wasn't enough intel, so Kakashi has no idea what they'll be facing. He had been angsty during the whole duration of this mission, mostly worried about Akira. It wasn't about her not being able to do her mission – there was no doubt, she was excelling in everything. It was about the unnecessary and avoidable issues that they were dragged into because of Guy's shenanigans.

"So what's next, taicho?" Guy asked whilst doing push-ups, acting as if everything was all good.

"What's next?" Kakashi retorted, "What do you mean 'what's next'?"

"You're the captain! Has the Power of Youth in you faded?"

He twirled the circular end of his kunai in his fingers absentmindedly, huffing as a cloud of steam burst from his ears. If this was one of their silly little challenges, he would've beaten him up in a heartbeat.

The source of light in their little cave was only the small fire Kakashi managed to start. Akira sat as close as she could without inflicting any burn injuries for warmth. Her fingers and toes were freezing and it felt like they were about to fall off. She had been running on spare batteries as she had to consistently use her crystals to protect the whole team.

"Let's take a break so we can regain our chakra again." Rin reminded everyone, "How's everyone's chakra?"

"Mine's fine."

"Don't you worry about me, Rin! I always have enough chakra! I'm as strong as ever!"

"Akira?"

"Just enough." She whispered shyly. She wanted to lie so she wouldn't worry Kakashi, but she knew it would be dangerous. She had noticed his deep anxiety and dread ever since Guy started messing up, so worrying him was the last thing she wanted to do.

Kakashi had seen Akira in every state there is; sick, sugar rush, guilty because she stole one of his action figures, tired, happy, sad. There is one that he's still confused about though. The look she gave him when they were both paused in silence. Her eyes are mightier than the Sharingan and whatever visual prowess exists in this world. It makes him feel like he was lying on a soft cloud. If he could just float away in that cloud with her. He was actually aware of how low her chakra reserve was because of his new eye, but he kept quiet. He knew not to push her buttons. She would force herself just to prove it to him.

"I don't need to take a break!" Guy insisted,

"Shut up!" He snapped, "Stop talking! I'm trying to think!"

"Stop arguing, please!" Rin groaned in despair,

"Everyone, get all your weapons out." Kakashi commanded,

The sound of metal clanking against each other echoed through the cave as they all collected their weapons. There was a moment of silence as they all realised they were essentially fucked.

"Three kunai knives and one paper bomb... Damn it... This is all we have?"

"The Stone's best men have us completely surrounded outside." Rin commented,

"Yeah, and they're going to attack us first thing in the morning." He glanced at Akira worriedly, "You need some time?"

"Y-yes." She rubbed her own arms for warmth,
