Kakashi and Akira breezed through three years of their marriage, and they miraculously never got into any big arguments. Even if they argued, it was over petty things and then they would make love throughout the night to make it all up. Life was great, and their name was also earning more recognition in the shinobi world. Every day he was grateful that he had married her. He stood alone on top of the Hokage mountain with his hands shoved in his pockets. This place was special because it was the place where he was with Kushina and then Minato-sensei when he was still consumed in darkness. The sky is blue, sensei... Naruto's hair is blonde like yours, and Akira's brown just like mama... The grass is green, and mama's ring has her sapphire crystal... Naruto's blue eyes reminds me of you too... I'm sorry I didn't notice these things back then, sensei... I know it's not an excuse, but I was in a really dark place... I haven't had the chance to thank you for trying to bring me back... He reminisced as if he was younger, sitting next to Minato whilst he screamed his throat raw. Kakashi now looks back at those memories with a smile. He was successful in climbing up the mountain which represents his tendency to sabotage himself. Reaching rock bottom had only started his journey. It was at that moment he realised, he doesn't want to live like that anymore. It made him rethink every single little thing in his life. Hurting himself was just a form of self-sabotage, which was a bad way of trying to protect himself from the losses. If he avoided relationships, he wouldn't need to go through losses. That was what he believed, but he ended up hurting the people he cared about. Bleeding all over the people who didn't cut him.
The black slug had shrunk to the size of a caterpillar, still grumpy as ever, but much less aggressive and overpowering. Kakashi became capable of putting his foot down and telling the black slug to know its place. It became his reminder about radically changing his life. No more letting the black slug control him.
In the midst of his sentimental trip, he was distracted by this rustling sound and giggles. Someone was below him, probably trespassed and was goofing off on the carved faces. He also heard the sound of some tin cans being placed on the surface.
He smirked at its chakra presence. He knew who it was. The warmth of this other person rubbed on his chest. It was obvious that he was up to no good. Who else other than Naruto would go this far? His blonde hair was visible from above.
Kakashi first contemplated both his roles. As Kakashi-niisan, he wanted to let it slide and actually join him, but as a high-rank jonin, he must maintain order in the village. Maybe Naruto wouldn't recognise him as who he is and what relationship he has with Minato. Maybe Naruto would just see Kakashi as any other jonin who scolds him. He really wanted to talk to his little guy, just for a second.
"NARUTO! WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING?" Iruka's voice can be heard below,
"Damn it!" The boy cursed under his breath, "I was just about to start!"
"DON'T MAKE ME GO UP THERE!"
Perhaps this was a good opportunity and he didn't want to miss it. He jumped down and snuck behind Naruto, hiding the boy behind him. Then he looked down to respond to Iruka, "It's just me. Someone left this bucket of paint here."
Of course, Iruka didn't fall for that stupid lie, but he let it slide. He rolled his eyes at Kakashi and walked away, signing to him that he would still need to punish Naruto. The two had often talked about Naruto, and Iruka have always noticed the longing in his senpai's eye for the boy. He couldn't imagine not being able to be with Akira, so he understood. He understood the unwritten bond Kakashi has with Naruto.
"Just what do you think you're doing?" Kakashi then spoke as a jonin, "You're not supposed to be here."
"So are you."
