"Come on, Tenzo!" Akira called gleefully, waving her hand for him to approach her. She and Kakashi were at the gate, all packed up, for their first co-op mission in forever. Her heart was still heavy because he couldn't recognise her, but she doesn't mind starting over step by step.

He smiled timidly and shuffled quickly to them. He had been thinking about her, longing for the friendship they had that he couldn't even remember. How did they end up being this close? What happened? Kakashi and Akira made him adjust to his new life easily, and it made him feel like he was picking up where he left off. The two made him feel right at home, especially since Kakashi insisted he sticks with his 'real name': Tenzo. It made his chest feel warm and fuzzy. He felt so welcomed like he never left.

Kakashi gave him a half-smirk, ruffling his long brown hair just to mess with him. He likes Tenzo the way he likes Iruka. After their last encounter of nearly killing each other, they've never been better comrades. He had a soft spot for Tenzo, and if he had to choose, he would choose him over Spiky. He relates to the loneliness Tenzo must have felt, not knowing where he belonged and if he was worthy of that. His whole past had been erased, somewhat just like Kakashi after that incident.

"Well? You're the captain!" Akira gestured at Kakashi, "So what's our plan?"

"Tenzo and I are just escorts to support you. You're the captain for this mission, Akira." He corrected, "So, what's your plan?"

"Well, um..." She hesitated, feeling a bit insecure at the presence of a high-profile shinobi. Taking the torch from her mother in being the Leaf's Shōton ninja has been a lot of pressure, but the support and love she received from Kakashi slowly brought her confidence back. She was gradually becoming that determined little girl her father had always told everyone.

"Okay, I'm going to stop you right there." He smacks Akira on both sides of her arms to hype her, "You're the leader! Act like one!"

"Y-yes, taicho!" She saluted, and she loved it. The way he shows support for her is always so unique and out of the box, and that just makes her fall for him over and over again. Hard. He was always strict with her, and he still is now, but she takes in every bit of it. "Okay! Listen up!"

"Yes, ma'am!" Kakashi saluted back,

"Yes, ma'am!" Tenzo played along,

She blushed deeply and tried to stifle her giggles, just feeling grateful for her boys. Her team had never returned to its real form, and she was just glad that this was close enough. The nine-tails incident changed Iruka a lot, and he decided that he wanted to stay in the village to pass on the Will of Fire to the future generation. She scrunched up her eyebrows and huddled the guys, "We're headed for the Land of Wind. People have gone missing, including our shinobis. The intel I got from the Hokage is the bare minimum. We don't know how dangerous they are, but it has been confirmed that they've been abducting people to conduct experiments. Our target is the Shirogane clan."

"Got it, boss!" He beamed with pride like a proud mother,

"Understood, taicho!"

"We'll spend the night halfway there. Let's go!"

Kakashi twirled on his heels to face the former Hokages high up in the mountain, smiling up at Minato, and he whispered to the heavens; We'll be back soon, sensei! 

There was this small traditional inn on the hills by the Land of Rivers. It only had about four rooms and two bathrooms. The old innkeeper who was at the desk said that there were only two rooms left, one with two beds and the other with just one larger bed – which both guys gave to Akira. They had been travelling for a day and arrived at the inn right around after dinner time. The inn had a small porch at the back that overlooks the valley placed in the centre of the hills. At night the picturesque moon was high up in the sky, and the chirping of the crickets filled the air. Kakashi and Tenzo were both out back just enjoying the sleeping earth, sipping on a hot cup of tea. "How are you handling things, Tenzo?"
