The Shirogane clan lives on the border of the Land of Wind, hidden deep within the windy desert. Even if they were with no particularly skilled ninja, the Leaf shinobi still had their guards up. They have been known to survive the Shinobi Wars with a dark secret. When the three Leaf shinobi infiltrated their territory, they weren't expecting to be surrounded by an army of puppet walkers. No wonder the clan survived the wars. There were many with three-bladed fingers on each hand and a thin spine that connects their bodies to their extremities, there were ones built to ignite themselves and charge straight at the enemy with their large disc-like backs, and others with a bull head with thick forearms that shoot orbs of lightning. How were they supposed to target the clan? Especially the Master Puppet? Things were going downhill when the three Leaf shinobis discovered they were in too deep. If they were to escape, the clan will definitely find out and they will fall victim to the cruel experiments. They were inside one of the main structures, a building that looked like it was covered in a thick coat of sand. At the centre of a structure was a large space where they were conducting experiments and making those puppets. The three were up in the foyer, overlooking the gruesome view. The screams of the innocent being experimented on made the three queasy. Tenzo ducked down and turned to lean on the wall, he needed to sit down because his head was spinning. The view downstairs triggered his flashbacks. "T-taicho! I can't breathe!"
"Tenzo!" Kakashi crawled next to him so he won't have to talk so loud. He knelt down and opened Tenzo's Anbu mask for him. "What's happening? Tell me."
"I- It's back again. It's back again. I'm back there again."
"Back where?" Akira asked, having no idea what he meant.
"No, you're not back there!" Kakashi shook his shoulders, "Tenzo! Now's not the time! It's me! And Akira's here too! Look!"
She quietly watched Tenzo freak out and frowned, "Tenzo, what do you remember?"
He stared blankly at Akira, finding her calm and collected feature soothing. Working with her felt different from his old role in the Root division. They have good synergy, they always had. He just forgot about it. He didn't know what to tell her because he didn't want to freak her out as well. Kakashi told him that she has a lot on her mind.
She placed her hand on his shoulder, releasing crystals and forming protective armour around Tenzo. Then, she did the same to Kakashi. "I'm the captain here. It's my job to keep you safe."
That inappropriately turned Kakashi on and he had to wave his lewd thoughts away as if they were flies around his head. He was still thinking about last night, already craving some more. He came to the difficult decision of his prediction. Looking at Tenzo in that state reminded him of the missions after Rin's death, with his wound still fresh and raw. The panic attacks in the middle of combat will be too risky because they were already outnumbered in the first place. He was in the place of Sakumo right now, and with everything that had happened, the things he had seen his friends and family did, he finally understood his father. "We have to retreat, Akira."
"You're right. This was out of our expectations." She agreed,
"I'm sorry, you guys."
"No, Tenzo. It's not your fault. Come on, we have to leave before they find us." She held out her hand for Tenzo, "Let's go, Kakashi-senpai."
"I'll be right behind you." He smiled at Akira and gave Tenzo a look, hoping he would understand what it meant. It was about the thing they discussed last night. His first lie to Akira, although it was still partially true. He'll be right behind her, as a decoy so they can escape safely. The captain sinks with the ship, and in this case, he took the role of said captain. "Let's head out, Akira. Tenzo, you got me?"
