"Hey!" a guy shouted.
I looked over to see two guys holding my uncle still. One of them had a gun to the back of his head. The other looked beaten up but held on to my uncle so he couldn't get away.
"Drop the crowbar," the guy with the gun ordered. "We're not here to kill anybody, but if you try anything..."
The guy had his nail on the trigger, ready to squeeze it. I didn't want to risk my uncle's life by attempting to use my power.
I dropped the crowbar and it made a loud clanging noise as it hit the wood floor.
"You okay, Cam?"
The first guy I had hit with the crowbar, stood up. His head was bleeding. "Yeah. Yeah, I'm good."
"I'm fine too, thanks," the guy with the pan said as he got up.
The first guy grabbed my crowbar off the ground.
"Do you know why we're here, Crypto?" the one with the gun asked.
"I'm guessing it has something to do with the guy I killed," I said.
"His name was Andes and he was my brother," he said.
"Well, I'm sorry for your loss."
I was smacked in the side with the crowbar. It knocked the wind out of me and took me off my feet.
"Come on, guys," my uncle pleaded. "He's just a kid."
"A kid that needs to be disciplined," Andes' brother said. "That's why we're here. To discipline him."
I got back on my feet.
"No. I didn't give you permission to get up," Andes' brother said.
The guy with the crowbar hit me again, but this time, in the legs, and I fell back down.
"I want a turn!" the other guy I had beaten up said.
The guy with the crowbar handed it to him.
"Don't you dare," I growled.
He smacked me right in the face with the long piece of metal, knocking one of my front teeth out.
The four gangsters laughed.
"You're gonna regret that," I said.
"Alright, tough guy," Andes' brother said. "My turn." He handed his gun to the other guy guarding my uncle and took the crowbar.
"Hardly a fair fight," I told him.
"Did you give my brother a fair fight?" he asked.
"Your brother was a dangerous criminal."
He swung the crowbar at my head, but I used my power and the crowbar exploded and Andes' brother fell to the floor.
"How did he do that?" asked one of the gangsters.
"He did the same thing to my gun!" the one now holding the gun to my uncle's head said.
"That's some power you have," Andes' brother said. "Blade, why didn't you tell us you Beaucerons have such a useful power?"
"Because it's too powerful and dangerous to be used for evil," my uncle said. "We aren't to be used as weapons."
"I beg to differ," he said. "How big of an explosion can you make, Crypto?"
"I could blow this whole house up if I wanted to," I told him. It was a bit of an exaggeration, but I was tired of being messed with.
"How would you like to be a part of our little group?" he asked.
"After you just tried to beat me up? What about your brother?"
"Eh, we weren't that close anyway. He was my half-brother. Join us and we'll call it even."
"I'm already a part of the mafia."
He laughed. "We know. I'm talking about joining our little group inside of the Family. We work together to get things done and split what we earn."
Uncle Blade shook his head.
"I'll have to talk to the boss about it," I said.
"You're close to the boss?"
"Well, sorta."
"Even better! You tell the boss that you want to join us and put in a good word about us. My name's Rockie."
"What if I have nothing good to say about you?"
"Then just remember, we know where you live," Rockie said. "Come on, boys."
And just like that, they were gone.
