"What do you know about the cougar who killed Officer Laurier?"

"His name is Rockie. He's thirty-nine or forty years old. He's in the mafia."

He wrote down some notes. "What else?"

"He hangs out with three other mobsters: Duke, Jordan, and Cam. They work directly under him."

"What is Rockie's last name?" Detective Charlie Hayes asked me.

"Um, I don't know."

"Tell us about Duke, Jordan, and Cam," Detective Clark said.

"Duke is a doberman. Jordan is a jaguar with a wife and three kids. They don't know he's involved in the mafia. And Cam is a raccoon. He has a girlfriend named Willow, also a raccoon. I don't think she knows about him being in the mafia either."

"I don't suppose you know any of their last names either?"

"No. Sorry."

"You must be one of them to know so much."

"I have been undercover," I said. "I became a police officer before joining them."

"When was that?"

"About six or seven months ago."

"You know," Charlie said, "we probably wouldn't have found that mafia hideout in Sebastian's if it weren't for him. You were also right about the black malinois. We found him on video, turning invisible."

"You were with him," Detective Clark said. "You know that guy is a serial killer, right?"

"An assassin to be precise," I said. "He goes by the name Diesel but I couldn't find any record of him when I searched."

"An assassin? Does that mean he works under someone? Does he work for the mafia too?"

"Yes. He's one of the higher-ups. The Boss trusts him."

"Who's the Boss?"

"You're not gonna believe me."

"Try us."

"Judge Spiney," I said.

The detectives were taken aback.

"No. It couldn't be him," my lawyer said in disbelief.

"You better believe it," I said.

"Do you have proof?"

"I've been trying to get proof, but he's too careful. He must be really experienced," I said.

"If what you're telling us is true," Charlie said, "that means the whole justice system is corrupt."

"No. It means the whole city is corrupt," Detective Clark said.

"It's worse than that," I told them. "The mafia extends to many different cities, states, and countries. The whole world is corrupt."

"You're playing," my attorney said.

"I wish I was," I said. "Unfortunately, I'm telling the truth. I've seen it for myself."

"We're gonna need proof. If the mafia still trusts you, would you be willing to help us out?" the detective asked.

"Yes, but I won't be wearing any cameras. They would kill me."

"We'll figure something out, but for now, do you know where we could find the cougar?"

"Rockie? I can give you his address," I said. "He lives with his girlfriend but she's not involved in any of this."

"Okay. We'll have him arrested right away. What's his address?"

I gave them the address and they were about to leave.

"There's one more thing before you go," I told them. "The mafia plans to blow this whole department up, just like they did to the consulting firm."
