I went to court and was found innocent so I was finally allowed to leave. The first thing I did, after getting my phone and car, was drive to Birdie's house.

I knocked on the door but nobody answered so I called Birdie.

She didn't pick up.

I called again.

Still no answer.

I sent her a text message of a bird emoji. Her car was still in the driveway.

"Well, well."

I turned to see my partner and the other officer I still didn't know the name of.

"Looks like you got off scot free," my partner said. "I wonder why you came here: the home of Officer Laurier's murderer, and that girl who was in your apartment."

"Where are they? Did they get arrested?" I asked.

"They got away."

"Then why are you still here? Shouldn't you be out looking for them?"

"We're waiting here in case they come back. Do you know where we can find them?"

"I haven't the slightest clue," I said.

"I thought you'd say that." He grabbed his gun.

"Woah! Hey!" I said, putting my paws up. "What are you doing? I'm unarmed!"

"The judge may not have the sense to see it, but I know who you really are now. Traitors will not be tolerated in this department."

I looked at the other officer who pulled out his gun as well.

"Wait!" I said just as a gun went off.

My partner went down. His neck gushed blood.

I looked down at myself to make sure I hadn't been shot too, but I was okay.

"Come on!" the other officer said, waving me over. "Let's go help Rockie!"

"Help him? You mean catch him?" I asked.

"No. Grab his gun and vest. We're gonna go save your friend."

I took my partner's gun, put on his bulletproof vest, and followed the officer to his police car. I didn't have any intention to help Rockie, but if Birdie was in danger, I wanted to be there for her.

The 'officer' called in over the radio that he had found Rockie's location, and he made up an address so that the other police officers would be headed in the wrong direction.

I turned on the bodycam that I took off my partner and texted Detective Clark, explaining to him what had happened and what street we were currently on.

He texted back: Sending reinforcements.

The officer's phone rang and he answered, putting it on speaker since he was driving.

"Time to blow this popsicle stand," said the voice which I recognised to belong to Diesel.

"Almost there," the officer said. He turned on the sirens and increased our speed as the cars in front of us pulled aside.

"Where are we going?" I asked.

"Take a guess, Mr. Honored Member."

"The police station?"

"Ding, ding, ding!" he said.

"I thought we were gonna help Rockie."

"We are. The explosion should be enough to distract the cops from him."

I texted the detective to let him know where we were headed.

"Who are you texting?" the officer asked.

"Rockie of course," I told him. "I'm just letting him know what we're up to."

When we were within sight of the station, the officer asked me, "Can you work your power from this distance?"

"A little closer," I said.

He kept driving until we were just a street away.

"Just a little closer," I said.

"Really?"

"The parking lot should be close enough." I knew he would be a sitting duck in there.

He pulled into the parking lot and I stepped out of the car and texted the detective: Here.

"Any day now," the officer said.

"One second," I said. "This vest is powerproof. I gotta take it off first." I slowly took the bulletproof vest off, trying to bide time.

Finally, the police force arrived, blocking the exit with their cars. They got out, using their car doors as shields as they pointed their guns at us. "On the ground now!" There was nowhere for the 'officer' to run.

"What's the meaning of this?! We did nothing wrong!" he told the army of cops.

I quickly put the bulletproof vest back on and pulled my gun on him. "Get on the ground!"

He looked at me, confused.

"I won't ask you again," I warned him.

He finally realized what was happening.

"Traitor!" he shouted as he grabbed his gun from his holster.

All of us opened fire on him and he flopped down onto the pavement with too many bullet wounds to count.
