THAMSANQA
Everybody in the company is panicking right now because some of our shareholders want to pull out from the company because an anonymous buyer wants to buy them out. And let me just say that Zamani is slowly losing his shit which goes to show how serious this is for all of us. He is usually the calm one and makes rational decisions but today there won't be any rational thinking.
Believe me when I say everything done in this company is one hundred percent legit and therefore it has become a threat to opposing businesses. It doesn't help that we are in the oil manufacturing business that is doing pretty well for a black-owned business. Something that started off as an interest turned into a legacy.
My father used to work in the mine but later decided to quit since it was messing up with his health. He then spent months and months at home recovering until one day he came up with a brilliant plan. A thought that turned into an interest and interest that turned into a business proposal. I'm so glad he thought on it enough to put it in writing.
Imagine a whole miner coming up with an idea of starting up his own oil corporation? And like any other entrepreneur, he needed good capital to get all the work in motion and make sure that things go as planned. But of course, not many white men believed in helping a human being of color...especially a black man. They then deemed him to being a bit too ambitious and that he should slow down a little.
Until one day he met a very understanding man called Jacob Van Zyl, who helped him with the capital without wanting anything in return. He didn't want to be a part of the business since he already had his own businesses to take care off and only asked that once the conpany makes enough money, to pay him back the exact money he gave Baba.
Such a kind man not wanting anything in return but being a good samaritan to help others in need. Unfortunately he passed on years ago and it was sad because my father and him were close. This is what made Baba hand over the company to Zamani and I, said he wanted to explore and travel the world with his wife when he still had the time.
That is exactly what he did, got married to a nice woman his age, Mam' Khethiwe, who has done nothing but love and support him. This is the only woman who caught his heart after our mother passed on so I was really glad he found someone who loved him for him, and not his wealth.
But after all that hard work, someone is threatening to take over by buying out shareholders. What makes the entire thing worse is that no one knows who or she is making us super vulnerable because we might be at their mercy. We have no idea what kind of reputation they have and how it would destroy our image not to mention, destroy the company itself.
What still gives us authority is the fact that I am the major shareholder and chairperson, so whatever happens we still run the company. Now all we need to do is find the threat and eliminate it if push comes to shove. There is no other way so we are forced to think of any other options we might have.
The way things have been happening, I haven't even found the time to call or text Nombuso to tell her I won't be able to make it to her event. Well what else did I expect when I haven't had something as simple as breakfast. My stomach is grumbling and I know for sure I have to eat before I faint. Maybe a sandwich and juice can hold me off long enough to finsih half of the paperwork here.
I pull out my phone from my pocket and open it. I'm about to type a message to Buso when someone barges in through my door without a decent knock. Such DISRESPECT to even do that pisses me off therefore I won't even acknowledge their presence.
"Olá, meu amor. Você está com saudades de mim? (Hello, my love. Did you miss me?", a voice says.
There's no way this is the person I think it is. Absolutely no fucking way!! It's impossible since I left them back in Brazil and never looked back. I look up from my phone and see the one and only, Maria, a woman I was once friends with. Well more like friends with benefits but who cares. What is she even doing here?
