Outreach Day has to be one of Vada's most hated events of Nevermore. She is standing with Wednesday and Enid, listening to Principal Weems explain procedure.

"All students will report for their volunteer jobs at 10:00am sharp, followed by a community lunch at 1:00pm. As you all know, Outreach Day is a very special event. However, this year there will be the dedication of a new memorial statue in the town square which will include performances by Nevermore students." She smiles. "I expect you all to be on your best behaviors."

Students begin to go to Ms Thornhill, getting their pamphlet of volunteer jobs. Vada walks up to her, looking up as she gets handed a pamphlet. "Have you worked on that rose yet, dear?" Thornhill asks.

"A little. Nothing yet." Vada lies and quickly walks away before she can say anything else. Enid is giggling. "I got pilgrim world!"

"I got Uriah's Heap, whatever that is." Wednesday informs calmly.

Enid shrugs. "Creepy antique store, i'm sure you'll love it." She smiles a little. "Crossing my claws Ajax and I will be outreaching together." She says.

Wednesday rolls her eyes. "He has snakes for hair, what do you even see in him?" She asks.

Enid smiles. "Everything." She says dreamily. Vada makes a gagging noise and looks away as Weems speaks with Wednesday about her cello.

Vada turns, opening her own pamphlet to reveal she has gotten The Weathervane cafe. A small smile finds its way to her lips but she quickly hides it as she boards the Nevermore bus.

The ride to Jericho isn't long at all. The bus pulls to a curb and opens its doors as the students rush off and look around as if most of them didn't come to town once a month or week for therapy.

Vada walks off of the bus with Wednesday, looking at Xavier. She waits to the side, not wanting to head into The Weathervane too early. She isn't excited or anything.. right?

They begin to walk as Vada runs to catch up. Wednesday is showing Xavier to drawing page of the book. "You've seen this before haven't you?"

"A couple days before the Harvest Festival, yeah. It was open on Rowan's desk so I assumed he stole it after we kicked him out of the nightshades. I confronted him about it and he went ballistic on me."

"He threw you against the wall with his telekinesis." Wednesday says knowingly.

Xavier blinks. "It's weird that you're in this.. the book is 30 years old at least. What the hell is Crackstone doing in a picture with you?"

"That's Crackstone?" Vada asks. Wednesday looks at Vada. "You know who that is?" She asks.

"Joseph Crackstone is like Jericho's founding father. Kind of a big deal around here. That's him." Xavier points to a Pilgrim World sign.

Wednesday quickly walks off. "Come, we need to report for our jobs. I need to speak with Enid." She says.

Vada glances back at Xavier. He looks away and walks off. Vada rolls her eyes and follows Wednesday to the wooden bleachers.

The Mayor does a quick but awkward introduction and thank you for Nevermore students helping before Principal Weems smiles. "We will see everyone back here at 1pm for lunch."

Wednesday stands and looks at Enid. "Switch with me. I need to check out Pilgrim World and it's an emergency." She explains.

Enid pouts. "Why can't I give you pilgrim world, you give Vada Uriahs Heap and I get Weathervane." Enid asks.

Vada looks up quickly. "I got Weathervane, fair and square." She says firmly, keeping her grip tight on her pamphlet.

Enid looks at her before slowly looking at Wednesday. She groans and hands her the pamphlet. "You owe me."

Wednesday smirks. "Ajax is volunteering at Uriahs Heap." She informs, seeing the boy walk into the shop.

Enid turns and sees this as well, quickly running off to the shop as she practically throws the door open.

Wednesday looks back at Vada. "Any reason as to why you're protecting your pamphlet with your life?" She asks.

"No reason that's your business." Vada replies. Wednesday smirks slightly and walks off to pilgrim world, holding her nose high.

Vada stares for a moment. She sort of understands how Bianca could think that Wednesday believes she's better than everyone else with the confidence she carries around. To Vada? Wednesday is inspiring.

The girl turns the corner to the Weathervane and is about to walk in when Thornhill gently grabs her arm. "Vada.. there you are. I was a little worried for you. You seemed upset this morning. Everything okay?"

"Huh? Yeah... everything's fine." Vada says, moving away from her touch as she looks at her with slight confusion.

Thornhill keeps her eyes on her. "Good. I'll see you later, sweetie. Don't forget, you could really use that extra credit for that wilted rose assignment I gave you." She smiles before walking off.

Vada stands there for a moment, watching Thornhill walk away before thinking to herself. She sighs softly after a moment and heads into The Weathervane, hoping that her day goes well despite the nerves rising inside of her stomach.

Nerves? Vada hasn't experienced nerves.. ever. How the hell was she nervous to work at The Weathervane for less than a day? This couldn't be right.

Vada stays completely silent as she looks around the cafe. It isn't busy yet but it's still pretty early morning. A few old people were finishing their coffee as a boy hung posters on the board that is on the wall.

He turns around and makes eye contact with Vada. All Vada can make out now are the clear sign of nerves in her stomach.

Tyler offers a smile, walking over. "Hey." He says softly.

Vada stares at him before looking away. "Coffee... i-i'm here to help with coffee." She says.

"Well, let me show you the way then." He chuckles and leads her to the back to get an apron and such.

Vada is only hoping for one thing now; to be calm around Tyler for the rest of her day.
