- Hyde and Woe Seek -
2x5It has been days and Vada still feels sick. Sure, she's relieved to have finally ended Thornhill once and for all, but Wednesday is in a coma and Tyler still hasn't sent her any hints as to where he's gone to hide. She promised to find him, but how can she do that if he's as good as a ghost?
Staying in the dorm and listening to Enid's nervous rambling about Wednesday and all other things going on is too much, so the little devil finds herself outside of the Galpin home, cleaning the angry vandalism once more.
"You have to send me a sign, Tyler. I can't find you in thin air." She speaks to the air, frowning worriedly. She knows ever since Wednesday and Fester released LOIS patients, there has been officials out practically hunting them down. Suspiciously, a lot of those Outcast escapees have come up dead. She would never forgive herself if something happened to Tyler before she could find him.
A familiar scent catches her attention and she sits up straight, looking toward the yard. There he was. Elvis. Her brown eyes widen and she puts the rag back into the bucket, turning fully. "Elvis?"
The beagle pup barks and takes a step closer before turning and running into the woods. "Wait! Elvis!" Vada calls out as she runs after him.
The dog turns around large trees and hops over logs, even hopping over a small creek bed. Vada is glad for enhanced eyesight so she doesn't lose track of him, her boots splashing in puddles as she runs.
Finally, he stops at the opening of a tunnel, water trickling out. He looks at Vada and barks before sitting down as if waiting on something.
Furrowing her brows, she looks at the opening before beginning to walk inside. She can faintly hear mumbling and water trickling, but what captures her attention most is the smell of Tyler. Her heart speeds up as she quickens her movements, seeing the boy crouched on a concrete dry spot, shaking like a leaf.
He looks over as if catching her scent as well, his bottom lip quivering. "I-I didn't mean to.. she ran in front of me-"
Vada rushes over and pulls him close, rubbing his back. "Shhh. Shh you did nothing wrong. It was an accident. I know that." She promises, frowning to herself. "She's going to be alright. The doctor's fixed her all up. Just some stitches."
"W-we can't stay here.." He sniffles, his body still shaking. He feels cold and frail, likely from days of hiding in a wet place with no food.
"I know, love. We're gonna find somewhere safe. Okay? Just take a breath." She pulls back and moves curly hair from his eyes. He's really due for a hair cut.
"Well, well, well. Isn't this a Romeo and Juliet story from Hell?" A snarky man's voice says from the shadows toward the opening Vada has just come from.
Both teens look up quickly to see a tall man in hunting gear, holding a rifle. He has to be one of the many hunters that Willow Hill-or rather, Judi Stonehurst, has hired to take care of the LOIS projects before the public can become aware.
"You can't hurt him. He isn't resisting.." Vada slowly stands, putting her hands up.
"I can do whatever the hell I want, kid. Including taking you out too. Sounds like a bonus check for me." He turns off the safety on his rifle.
Tyler stands quickly, a low growl escaping his throat. Vada looks back and notices his nails extending into long black claws. "Tyler.."
"That's it. Give me a reason." The man mocks, stepping closer.
The shadow on the wall beside Vada grows and grows, towering over her own. Long claws and sharp teeth are outlined and the growls are animalistic now.
There's nothing she can do. There's no way out but this. So instead of trying to be the good guy right now, she ducks behind Tyler and crouches against the corner.
