"I'm sorry. Did I hear you right? We are all right?" Dani asks. He nods.
"I may have been too quick to judge Tyler, and I'm sorry, it turns out hearing what the family thinks about you is an eye opener and not the good kind," he says. I roll my eyes.
Here he goes again. Always doing that bullshit. I apologize for now. I hope to make it okay and get back at it again. I turn back around. Dani didn't know what to do. She looks at me, and I shake my head. I could hear Derek's heartbreaking, but he needed to learn that I was not going around and around anymore.
"Addison, I shouldn't have said anything. I'm sorry; I love sabotaging a good thing when I have it. I didn't mean to hurt you, or Tyler for that matter; you trust him, and I should too-"
"Shut the hell up," I spin, "this is a roller coaster with you, always saying something to offend me or someone else and then apologizing for it just to do the same bull shit again, it's never gonna end."
He puts his his head down. And he's doing that thing too. The agent was so upset until I ran back.
"Stop hanging your head. It won't work this time; you can't expect me to keep doing this every single day or week or month; what happens when I say it's okay and then you snap again, stop saying sorry, damn it, it means nothing anymore," I said getting out of my chair. Faith is right at my heels. Tyler gets up to.
"Addison, please," Derek says, tears streaming down his face. I could see the hurt on my face, but I wasn't doing this again.
"Let go of me, asshole," I said, jerking away, "maybe you haven't noticed, but you have more recruits to get in touch. God forbid I don't have enough people to protect me."
And with that, I walk away. I'm not listening to his bullshit anymore. I never noticed him walking out or following. He must've stayed behind. And I don't care if I hurt pulled hurt me too. He was alerting me and always saying things to me that weren't right. And then to have the nerve to say Tyler and I would sleep together or worse. I've done everything for him.
I have given him the better parts of me. And he didn't see that. Even before Tyler, I put up with the bullshit he spat at me. But I wasn't putting up with it anymore. When I reach the stairs, I open the door to our room, but I grab Tyler and pull him inside instead of outside. And I lock the door behind me. He looks at me sorrowfully. And I can't help it. I wrap my arms around his waist. Crying into him. He covers her with my hand, with one hand on the back of my head. I stayed a while, just wanting him to hug me tight. Tell me I'm okay and that he's there. Eventually, I would be okay. And he did. He tried calming me by telling me he would come around and see if he was wrong. Then he tried telling me he was there and not to worry. Eventually, we found ourselves lying on the bed. He's holding onto me, trying to soothe me as friends do.
"Addison, can I say something," he asks. I sit up. He looks over to me.
"Well, one, I'm proud of you for standing up for yourself and not backing down, but was it worth this, the sadness, the pain," he asks. I sigh, knowing he's right. It wasn't worth the pain.
"No, I guess not, but he needs to understand I'm not playing his games anymore," I said. He sighs.
"How about you go take a shower? I'll wait here, and then I'll take one after you," he said. I nod, getting up. I walk over to my dresser, where I grab the usual. Bra panties and pajama shorts with my silk tank.
"I'll go Wake Dwayne and let him know I'll be in here, so he needs to take the post," he said. I nod, going to the bathroom. And I turn the water on. I was still missing Derek, though. His touch, his breath on my neck. His touch. It was always electric. But Tyler and I had a connection, too. Something about Derek was exciting and wild. But Tyler was safe and kind. And he cared.
