Locked once more(Book 2)

Chapter 19

The ride back was quiet. Dwayne was shocked too. We didn't know how to take that. If that letter got out, Damien would be locked up for life. Lee said he didn't have anything to do with it, but I wasn't sure. But if that's what Tracy was hiding, That was big. What if she was hiding it until he WAS arrested so that she'd have evidence against him? That was a good thought. But by now that letter was close to eleven years old. Would it stand in court? Maybe, usually, cold cases would be twenty years. But in some cases, ten years was plenty.

We arrived back at the villa, at ten in the morning. We had been there for a little while. The old news is, we weren't gone too long. We would be up, but he hadn't called. Not that I could tell anyway. So if he questioned where we were, we could make up an excuse. Seeing Le was stressful, but I powered through it. If my sisters found out I would be screwed. They would tell Wes, and then we would be locked up. I hadn't even told them about Wes and I sleeping together While I was still WITH Derek, only told them that he left a note saying we could be together. If they knew I cheated with Wes on Derek, they would have an opinion. That would hurt me too.

Noah and Wes were waiting inside the Corridor. Probably waiting for us to come back. And I would have been right. Dwayne and I looked at each other, both of us afraid of the lie we were about to tell him. Honestly, I hated to lie to Noah let alone Wes. It would be hard to do. But if Dwayne took over, we may have a chance. Maybe they wouldn't ask about where we had been, yeah as if. That was wishful thinking. When we do get out, Faith runs to the entrance, greeting Wes, and Noah. This was it. Noah looks disappointed. Oh no, they know something is up.

"So, where have you been for two hours," Wes asks looking from me to Dwayne. Oh no, he looked pissed. Dwayne takes a breath.

"Well, we were getting coffee, we needed to get out," he said looking at me, I nodded.

"Where is the coffee?" Wes asks. Noah looks at me, squinting his eyes, he knows it's a lie.

"We drank it," I blurt. Wes nods. I start to walk ahead, but he grabs my arm and holds a finger up, and looks at Dwayne.

"I know you're covering for her, I know she's been somewhere she shouldn't have been, so I want the truth or you will be with her down in the cell," Wes says, Noah looks away for a moment. I can feel Wes's anger boiling but he's gentle. He looks at Dwayne telling him to tell him.

"I told you, Wes, we were getting coffee, we took Faith to be safe," He says, I gulp. He holds his phone up. Not letting me go.

"Yeah, you didn't though, GPS, on that very vehicle, showing you just outside the Chicago penitentiary where they are holding Lee, now I'll ask, what are you two up to?"

"Gosh, Wes, can't you trust me, I thought you were different from Derek, but tracing our vehicle, that's a new low, even for Derek or you." That must have stung, he snapped his attention to me, hurt in his eyes, shaking his head, Noah didn't say anything, he was shocked that I said that.

"Addison, I am protecting you like Derek was, he may have been overbearing at times, but he loved you and so do I, I am trying to protect you too, you lied to me, and I would like to know what for,'' He says. I swallow a lump and say nothing. Dwayne, puts his head down, knowing what's coming next. And here it goes again.

"Right, Dwayne, I won't throw you in the cell, but my girlfriend, she's going down until she can tell me the truth, and because she seems keen on being vague with me, make sure not to visit her after you put her there," He says. I shake my head.

"No, I'm not going down there again Wesley, I'm not going to be a prisoner again," I said. He nods.

"Until you can stop putting yourself in harm's way, I suggest you make nice with the cells," He says nodding to Dwayne.
