Chapter 27

I was confused, scared, and a bit sick to my stomach. Did he say that? I couldn't have Faith to kill anyone. That would be me murdering someone. And even though I was being forced to do his dirty work, If I aided him in this façade, I would go to prison for, a minimum of five years. I was a lawyer, I knew how that worked. Though it might not have mattered soon. If I didn't help him, he would have me, Derek, and Faith killed. And I did not want to think about what he would do if he found out Lee was working against him. He would kill us all.

I watched as Derek looked from me to Damien. But his eyes landed on me. And the fear I saw, was unlike anything I had seen before. He knew I couldn't kill anyone. I remember him saying that before. When those two men broke in a few months ago. I have NEVER killed anyone, and I don't know what would happen if I did. I was missing home now. But I had to protect my sisters.

"I'll do it, but I'm not doing anything until you promise my family's safety from here on out," I said. Derek snapped his head at me. I knew what he was thinking. He wondered what I was talking about and why I would agree to do this.

"Hmm, negotiations are for the big boys, but I suppose you've earned one or two, after all, you are here, and you have agreed to help," He says. I nod, sarcastically. Lee looks at me and then Damien. Did he suspect something was off? Or was he looking for validation from his old friend?

Honestly, the only reason I was helping Damien was that I was looking out for My family. And the reason I was siding with Lee, is so that he can take over the position as Mafia boss again, and Damien could be Thrown in jail for murder. Which he rightfully deserved. I knew Derek was still surprised by me being here, and he had every right to be, but he made it clear in his letter, not to worry about him. though this was more about my family than him, I still worried about his safety as well. I loved him, and I knew he still loved me, but I did sleep with his best friend, and he sided with Damien. Though he didn't know Damien was going to continue trying to get me and my sisters, he still left with him, leaving us in more danger than ever.

"If I may, Damien, I think I would like to come along for this, deal," Lee says, Derek snaps his head to Lee quickly, confused. He still didn't get that Lee and I were fighting the same side. Lee was not as terrible to deal with as Damien. And Lee didn't kill anyone, maybe attempted to shoot someone, particularly Derek, but not to kill him.

"Why on earth would you want to tag along like a lost dog Lee?" Damien asks, making a curious face. Lee looks at me, and I look at Damien.

"Please do not consider this, one mafia boss is enough," I blurt before I can think. Trying to throw Damien off his trail. Damien turns his attention to me, as does Lee, but I don't say anything else. Damien keeps eyeing me before he speaks again.

"That's a great idea, the more people, the better, and he is not a boss anymore, simply a commoner, part of my team, you'll do well to remember that," He says, looking at me sternly. I nod, acting scared, though I was not. I can see the discomfort in Derek.

"I guess Derek is staying behind the scenes?" Lee asks, trying to understand why Derek was not allowed to go.

"Derek will be here, guarded, we wouldn't want them planning an escape, after all, there is too much at stake, yeah?" Damien spits. I want to roll my eyes at that insane remark. As if I would escape and chance my sisters being a target.

"Yeah, food for thought Damien, I have too much at stake to leave, even if I did escape, I know my sisters wouldn't be safe, so there's no chance in hell I would even try to escape," I said. Damien tilts his head to me.

"Fair point Addison, seriously, I forgot until now that you are in this because you feel the need to cater to your sisters, and protect them at all costs," He said sitting up and looking at me, "Very well, Derek may come along, but Lee will be with you at all times."
