Chapter 22

Did he just say, her? He trafficked for her? Who was he referring to? He hadn't disappeared yet, I had some questions, more of them, including why I would only see Derek at the dinner table. That didn't seem fair. If I did go with him, I should be able to see Derek more than just twice at the table. And if he wasn't holding Derek Hostage why did he say that? Would I be a hostage? Sounded like it. But the question on my mind was, who was the woman he mentioned?

"Who is her? Damien," I ask, Saying his name to get his attention. He doesn't come into the light, he stands in the shadows as he usually does.

"The one who orchestrated the entire thing, the only one we have been loyal to for years," He said. Oh, great, Lee's sister made him do it. Did Lee tell her no, so she turned to Damien? What a slap in the face. I had a feeling we were going to need Lee's help if his sister and Damien were this psychotic. I needed to talk to Lee again. If Lee didn't know about his sister, maybe he had been too loyal to her all these years.

"Would I be a hostage, not aloud to see him, or Faith?"

"On the contrary, the wolf stays with you, Derek, that's tricky I know my son is loyal to only you, and that hurts my spirit, but the first chance he gets, he would make you leave, or possibly break out himself, and we can't have that," He said. The sound in his voice was cold. He meant what he said, but if I went with him, I would want to see Derek. No doubt about that.

"Okay here's the deal, I will think about it, and give you an answer before Valentine's Day, which I know doesn't give me much time, but if I go, I want to see Derek, more than just at the table, I want to be included in whatever plans you two have, be in the meetings, or whatever it is you do," I said. He grins nodding, in a proud kind of way. I can feel Dwayne shaking his head at me. I didn't know what I was going to do just yet, I was laying some ground rules down first.

"Okay, here's the deal, I will allow ten minutes a day, with security detail, in the study of my mansion, plus at the table, and I will let you be in the meetings, but you and Derek will not be alone, not ever," He says. I take a breath. And nod once.

"Okay, give me a few days, I'll make a decision, but if you go back on your word and our agreement, I will have Faith end you," I said. He looks at Faith. She's still, not growling or moving.

"Alright, you have my word," He said. Like he was a man of his word.

He left. Not saying anything else to me. Why would he? There would be no need to say anything else. He made it pretty clear. But there was still one issue I had. I knew he would kill anyone who double-crossed including his son, what made me so sure he wouldn't do the same to me? Maybe there was a solution. Maybe the solution is where it all started. And maybe, I could convince Dwayne to indulge me for a moment.

I didn't say anything, I just led myself, out of the library. Dwayne followed close behind me, with Faith on my heels. If I could persuade Dwayne to like my idea, just a little bit, maybe, I could get in, and out, with no problems. Considering that I had proof, that Damien did sleep with Lee's sister, and that she orchestrated everything, maybe I could convince Lee of the same thing, and he would side with us, and testify that Damien, was behind the entire thing. If I could bail him out, he could potentially protect me. I knew he didn't want me dead. So maybe he would side with me on this. It had been three months since his arrest and he had time to think about what he had done, maybe he would try to make up for it, or we could a deal.

"Okay, here's the deal," I said stepping into the bedroom with Dwayne right behind me, I turned myself to face him and waved him in, he walked inside, shutting the door.

"Damien wants me to go with him, to save my sisters, I don't trust him, but I know someone who would side with me, potentially," I said. Dwayne nods, not understanding, turning his head to the side.
