He looked at me. And I placed the note on the island. I shrug. He's looking for answers, but I can't give them to him. I don't know what he wants from me. I won't tell him. He would go after him. Though I was sure he still would. Tyler walks in and grabs my elbow. Derek doesn't say anything. He keeps looking at me for an explanation.

"Addison, if he made contact, you need to tell someone," Tyler says. I shrug at him again.

"I didn't see him; I wasn't there too long. Maybe he was watching, and then he saw Chloe looking and just put two and two together," I said. I sigh, crossing his arms. Tyler drops his hand.

"Right, he just so happens to be in the library where you and Faith are, a wolf who can sniff out anyone, and you didn't see anything; I don't buy that, Addison," Derek says. And he didn't. Tyler didn't either. And as if on cue, Wesley rounds the corner with Dani. Thankfully, he saved me from explaining anything. Though Derek wanted answers, he didn't say anything to me. He looked at Wesley.

"Okay, breaking the ice, your parents are here," Wesley says, looking at Chloe.

"What's wrong with her," he asks. Derek shoves the note in his hand. He reads it, Dani, too. They look up at Chloe. Knowing I wouldn't give them anything, they asked her how he knew that; she claimed he was watching me the previous night and had seen her watching. She said he may have known she would go to the library after seeing him come in.

"Let's go see my parents," Derek said, bumping past me. He was upset. He knew I was lying, and the worst part was I didn't tell him. But I didn't want to say to him. He said Damien was here, but he didn't know he threatened him or me. The weird thing was Dani wasn't mentioned—just Tracy and Derek.

We walk into the front of the corridor. We wear only our jackets. The snow had blown in. Derek kept glancing at me. I knew he had seen right through me. When Walter steps out, there's a middle-aged man with a nice build, clean, shaven, and brown hair. Then a lady steps out, dark hair straight and a slick black dress; she favors Dani. She smiles when she sees Derek and Dani. They put on a show for them. Walter notices Derek standing beside me. And he puts it on himself to introduce himself to me.

"Addison, I'm Walter, Tracy's husband; you are wonderful. Derek said you were, but he didn't give you enough credit," he said. Being sweet, I thanked him. Tracy sees me, and she comes over. But she hugs me. Okay, so she's a hugger.

"Addison, my son has spoken about you many times. It's so good to meet you finally, and I love your dress," she says, revealing a black dress that looks like mine in style. Is that why Derek liked the gown I chose?

"Thank you, and it's nice to meet you too," I say as she steps back, grabbing Walters's arm. I was told she's good with weapons. Being married to an ex-marine can pay off.

Derek escorted us back to the dining area, where we sat around the table waiting for brunch. Someone nominated Matthew and Riley to fix some snacks. So they had been setting up some snacks and drinks for everyone. Walter sat at one end of the table, Derek at the other. I sat beside Derek, then Dani beside me. Beside her was Wesley. Tyler was posted outside the door. Chloe was beside Tracy, with Noah beside her. There were two seats in between Derek and Noah. Matthew would sit beside Derek and Riley in between Noah and Matthew. When Matthew walks in, Walter stands up.

"Mattie," he says. Matthew looks up, noticing the voice. He went still but was in shock. Noah grabs the platter from him.

"Uncle Wall-e," he said. Walter chuckles.

"Uncle," Derek said abruptly. Matthew hugs Walter. And Walter pats his back.

"Matthew was my brother's boy; I haven't seen him in probably 11 years; I moved away and met Tracy," Walter says. Derek raises a brow at Tracy. She shrugs, grinning and taking a sip of wine. I didn't know what was happening, but I knew Matthew now had someone to talk to.
