"Who would like to read next?" Professor Dumbledore asks after a moment of silence. Everyone looks around before Hermione hesitantly raises her hand. "Alright dear, I think it might be fitting." He says before floating the book toward her.
"Halloween." Hermione reads out the chapter title before the golden quartet looks at each other in fear. Ron gives Hermione's hand a squeeze and Neville gives Cordelia's hand a squeeze aswell.
"'Mione I can read if you need me to." Cordelia offers, noticing the pale face of her best friend while the people who were at Hogwarts and knew about what happened, remember the three of them getting into mischief while the other adults and students were confused about why Hermione Granger was so tense.
"I'll be fine, thank you though," Hermione assures her friends before turning her attention to the book and starting to read.
Malfoy .. again.
"Cordelia Lily.."
"Ronald Billius.." The two mothers started berating them for curiosity and Cordelia was just smiling, the feeling sinking in that she had her own mother to reprimand her and she shared a toothy grin with Neville, the only one of her friends who would understand besides Luna what it was like to long for a mother.
"And you should be focusing on your studies.." Lily was still lecturing, whereas Molly had seen that Ron wasn't paying attention and decided to give up. James cleared his throat amused at his wife's rant and she blushed, noticing that everyone was staring at her and Cordelia was staring at her in awe. "We will talk more later but I really wish you had left it alone!" Lily scolds lightly before turning back to Hermione who was smiling at Cordelia.
Hermione ..to read.
"Minnie I always knew you loved us, Potters, more!" James shouts with a grin making Professor McGonagall roll her eyes in disbelief while Remus raised his eyebrow at his old professor/colleague. He of course had known that Cordelia had gotten a broomstick her first year that she was enamored with but he never would've guessed that Cordelia got it from Professor McGonagall. Meanwhile, Cordelia was in dreamland, remembering her Nimbus, which held a special place in her heart.
"Not all Potters James," Professor McGonagall says before sending a small wink to Cordelia who gave her a beaming smile.
"That was very nice of you Professor," Lily adds before looking at her daughter who was in awe along with the rest of the quidditch fanatics. "Did you thank Professor McGonagall?" Lily asks sternly.
"Yes Mum, you'll see it in this chapter and again if they mention Christmas," Cordelia responds blushing as all the teachers get looks of memory on their faces, remembering when Cordelia sent everyone a Christmas card, including Professor Snape who, not that he would ever admit it, saved every single one in a special box that contained things he cherished most.
"How good is a Nimbus 2000 compared to my old CleanSweep?" James asks Sirius who started filling him in with Cordelia adding a couple of comments before Hermione cleared her throat, gesturing to the book and one Draco Malfoy paled slightly, remembering what happened next.
"A Nimbus .. twig by twig."
"Mr.Malfoy!" Cries were heard from the Professors, including Professor Snape, and The Weasley's were blushing embarrassed but Hermione continued on. Cordelia squeezed Ron's hand, knowing when people commented on his family's poverty that he got upset.
Before Ron .. the air.
"That wasn't very nice Ronald!" Mr.Weasley scolds his son.
"I know Dad, I was a right git but 'Mione and I have already talked it over." He defends. Meanwhile, the Slytherin table was looking disgusted at the behavior of one of their snakes, the way Malfoy had acted wasn't cunning at all, it was downright Gryffindorish at best.
