"Shall we continue and see what else Fake-Moody did?" Bill questioned, wanting to know if certain rumors that he heard when he was here for Cordelia and the tournament were true — he had never found out who the fake Moody was or what happened to him and he vowed to kill whoever was hurting his siblings, especially based on what Ron's letters said.
"Thank you for volunteering to read Heir Weasley," Mad-Eye gruffly stated, handing the book over to the eldest Weasely — making him come and get it. Bill chuckled at his behavior and settled back down in his seat next to his youngest sibling and her girlfriend.
"I do hope that whoever this teacher is at least taught them something useful," Lily fretted, she was worried about Cordelia's education since she was being taught by inadequate professors in DADA besides Remus.
"I just hope he isn't a Death Eater or a Murderer," James grumbled, knowing that if he was— he'd be going after him. He wasn't going to have his sweet little daughter exposed to that when she had already been exposed to worse. She didn't need doubles in her life.
"The Unforgivable Curses" Bill read out, his jaw dropping slightly as he realized that Ron hadn't been exaggerating about his first DADA class this past year. Lily paled slightly, remembering Cordelia and her had talked about something with Fake Moody's and putting Unforgivable curses on them – she just hoped this wasn't that chapter. James sighed, knowing his daughter had known about them because of Sirius and Remus taking over her education but he hoped this teacher didn't try to have them casting – that would be dangerous.
Cordelia's first week at Hogwarts progressed at a relatively quick pace with no issues — aside from Professor Snape being mad that both Neville and Cordelia were showing progress in their potions lessons. Andromeda's lessons over the summer had helped Neville become more confident and Cordelia was no longer holding back (mostly). Professor Snape had given Neville two detentions for 'cheating' and had forced him to de-gut certain potion ingredients.
"Seriously Severus?" Lily sighed. She shouldn't be surprised by his behavior at this point, considering it has only gotten worse with each passing book but there was a small part of her that hoped he'd lighten up.
"I know, it's not my finest moment," Severus admits, feeling slightly embarrassed. He should've known that Andromeda would tutor the both of them and if he wasn't mistaken, Augusta Longbottom hadn't been a slouch at potions when she was at Hogwarts either.
"You know......said thoughtfully. (Pages 209-210)
"That was not the reason I was sour if you must know," Severus stated, glancing at the two students with slight disdain and amusement in his eyes — Cordelia personally couldn't tell the difference between the two.
"I understand why you were sour now," Cordelia states, her hand discretely brushing over the same side that a death-eater would have their mark on and Severus got the message loud and clear. Cordelia knew that he had been worried fake Moody would find a reason to chuck him back into Azkaban or would try to get him to admit to things he didn't do – the real Moody had been suspicious of him even after Dumbledore's admittance to him being a spy and acting on his orders.
"I don't blame you if you were scared, that man terrifies even me," Regulus muttered quietly to his fiance, intertwining their fingers and clasping his hand tightly. Regulus had been terrified of Moody since he was a kid and seeing him at the Potter's didn't help matters either.
"Imagine if......decent seats."(Page 210)
"I think I'd make a horrible toad, maybe a nice panther or something," Severus muttered, slightly annoyed with the fact that Ron and Cordelia talked like this. He knew he had been a snarky bastard but he still wanted his students to respect him on some level – hopefully, that would change soon.
