"Cordelia love, can we talk to you for a moment?" Lily asks her daughter, having knocked on her door. James and she had talked the night prior about what they would do about Cordelia's behavior in not only the first book but the second book. They knew that the Weasleys had grounded the kids in the past and were having discussions with the kids regarding their behavior.
"Yes, Mum?" Cordelia responded, opening her door with her wand; revealing Cordelia to be sitting in her reading chair with a Potter Grimore in her lap. Lily walked in and smiled at her daughter, her pride and joy.
"Your father and I would like to discuss some things with you; could you come into the living room?" Lily instructs, smiling at her daughter's slight nod as she slowly closed her book. "We'll see you out there."
"Mischief Managed." Cordelia hisses, opening her trunk and placing the Grimore inside before closing it back up. She throws her hair back up and puts her slippers on; walking into the room where her parents are sitting down on the couch, cups of tea in their hands. "Is everything alright Mum, Daddy?" Cordelia asks with a small frown.
"Sit down love," James instructs, getting a cup of tea for his daughter, one sugar with cream. "Here fawn." He hands her the cup and a plate with a biscuit. "We'd like to talk about some things that are bothering us and that might be bothering you." James starts the discussion gently, sending her a reassuring smile.
"With reading the books Cordelia, you have to be sure that we'd have some concerns with things that you've done or that have happened to you, correct?" Lily asks rhetorically. Cordelia gives a slow nod, not liking where the conversation was going. "There are some things that we felt needed to be readdressed, even if we weren't there for them." She gently adds.
"I don't see why we need to talk about this." Cordelia protests, to the disbelief of her parents. It happened years ago in Cordelia's eyes and she just wanted to focus on the future.
"Cordelia we need to; you crashed into the Whomping Willow on a flying car, you helped smuggle a dragon, fought a troll, went on the broom after your cousin, and a couple of other things," James says sternly.
"We also don't know what else you've done yet, we still have two and a half books to go," Lily adds with a frown. "Statistically you will probably get into trouble at least half a school year each."
"What could you have done differently in all of those situations; bar the troll?" James asks his daughter. She sighs, sitting back on the couch, gripping her teacup tightly. After a couple of minutes of silence, James sighs. "You could've gone to an adult." He says with a sigh.
"Cordelia we care about you and don't want to see you hurt." Lily tries to reason at her steaming mad daughter. "Those stunts you pulled could've killed you. We've already talked about the first book but that car stunt wasn't pretty Cordelia." Lily lectures. "You are lucky that you didn't get expelled, or worse." Lily sighs. "I understand that Petunia and Vernon were terrible and misplaced your trust in adults but you are still our child and you need to trust that the adults here, have your best intentions at heart." Cordelia slightly scowls at the reminder of her muggle relatives.
"Why are we even worrying about this?" Cordelia questions softly. "This happened almost two years ago now, it doesn't make sense to do anything about it now," Cordelia mutters.
"We think that you need to be punished for your previous actions because accountability is important," James stresses with a frown. "My parents grounded me when I did things recklessly and I always got mad but as a parent, I understand why they did." James sighs. They continue their lecture for a while, making Cordelia grow more and more frustrated. She zones out so that she doesn't lash out, she was already punished with the Howler by Aunt Andromeda, then third year her Uncle Remus was her primary caregiver and now, her parents are trying to go on top of that.
