The rays of sunlight glared on your body. The first few birds of the morning were chirping, and the crisp, cool air was drifting through the cave.
Shivering, you blinked your eyes open and find yourself lying on the cold stone floor, head resting on both arms. You were using Diluc's coat as a blanket. You yawned and stretched out your arms above your head, letting out a satisfied sigh. You quickly recall of last night, and how you and Diluc bonded a bit. Speaking of which, you looked around, only to not find him anywhere.
"Good morning, I trust you slept somewhat well?"
There he was, standing at the entrance of the cave looking as mesmeric as ever. Which reminded you, you probably looked like an absolute mess right now. You quickly brushed your fingers through your hair, trying to make yourself look somewhat presentable. You felt a wave of embarrassment was through your stomach.
"G-Good Morning!" You stammered, nervously. You got up and dusted your clothes. "Uhm - Thank you for your coat by the way..." you reached your hand out with his coat. "If you want, I can wash it for you since I did use it." you added on.
"No need" he says as he takes his coat. "It's still really early in the morning, we should head back. Surely, we're safe now." He nods his head towards the exit of the cave, signaling for the both of you to start walking.
"Oh, right! I usually open my bookstore around this time. Plus, Mochi's probably hungry." Your brows furrowed, worrying over your little kitty at home who was probably constantly meowing for you all night.
"Mochi?" Diluc replies in question.
"Mhm, it's my cat. She's usually in my face in the mornings, waiting for me to wake up." you bashfully respond."Interesting." Diluc says. His reply was quite dry, and your shy demeanor quickly came back to you. You turn your head away and rub your arm, feeling a bit anxious. Diluc noticed your sudden change in demeanor, and was quick to apologize.
"Apologies. I don't mean to come off as uninterested. I usually don't involve myself in idle chit-chat with others." Diluc sighs. "It's alright." You sheepishly reply. "I-I usually don't do much talking. It's always Ms Lisa who does it for me."
"You and Lisa seem to be quite close, no? Or are my assumptions too bold?" Diluc asks.
"Ms Lisa and I are close. As a matter of fact, she helped me set up my bookstore when I arrived here."You said. Diluc lets out a hum in response.
.
The rest of the walk was quiet from here. But this time, it wasn't awkward silence. It was just normal and peaceful. Neither of you really minded it, finding relaxation in the background noises of the wind blowing through the rustling branches every now and then. Much to say, he was kind of glad for your introverted personality. It meant that he didn't need to do much talking. Plus, you prefer to walk in comfortable silence rather than deal with awkward efforts to try to make up a conversation, just like him.
"Hold on, I know this trail. I often come here to read! Follow me - uh - please." You say, feeling shy about coming off as too excited.
You began leading the way, Diluc following shortly behind. Not much passed until you both finally arrived at the front of your door, both standing there not really knowing what to say.
Should I invite him in? I-Isn't that a little too forward?
"Well, w-would you like to- "
"Y/N, there you are sweetie! I was knocking on your door a few minutes ago and thought you were still sleeping." Lisa's voice startled you. She always seemed to pop up at random times.
"Oh? Master Diluc?" She notices that you weren't alone. She was quite shocked to see the two of you together, especially because you're so quiet and he's so distant. She would never expect the both of you to even manage to form a friendship, considering both of your personalities wouldn't really work well together.
"Ms Lisa! Ah - we were just...uhm," you fumbled over words. Even if you two weren't even doing anything, you feel as if you just got caught.
"Just taking my leave. Y/N, I'll see you around." He adds on, apathetically. You silently thank him, saving you once again from coming up with some dumb excuse. With that, he walks away. As soon as he's out of sight, Lisa turns to looks at you knowingly.
"Can you stop looking at me like that, please." Your face goes red, and you place a hand over your eyes.
Lisa laughs at your nervous antics. "It's okay Y/N, I won't tell anyone about your little crush."
"C-crush?!" No! I just-" Your face turns as red as Diluc's hair right now. There's really no point in denying it. Plus, you were a bad liar. "Relax Y/N, I just wanted to see what you've been up to this past week." She smiled. "Besides, I saw the way Master Diluc looked at you." She smirks.
"S-Stop it, please." You muttered, but she enjoyed seeing how easily flustered you got.
"He gave you such goo goo eyes, Y/n. Gods, I can already see how cute your babies would be — you'll make me an aunt right?" Lisa continued to go on.
"I don't know what you're talking about!" You panic, missing the keyhole about 3 times before you finally managed to unlock and open your door. "Sorry Ms Lisa b-but I need to feed Mochi and get ready to open the store plus I need to u-uhm - organize my kitchen, yeah! So uh... bye!" You quickly shut the door in her face, taking a deep breath before you lean against the door.
You tried denying any upcoming thoughts of Diluc as you slid down until you met the floor. Your hands flew to cover your face as you tried calming your nerves down.
'Meow'
Mochi jumped on your lap and started purring, happy to see you. You smiled and scratched her head, getting up to feed her. Meanwhile, Lisa was still standing outside your door.
'Did she say organize her kitchen?'
