Roberto sighed as his eyes remained on Claire.
His sigh was an indication that her response wasn't what he expected.
"Well" He shrugged "If you don't want to do it to help your own ass. Then, I might as well bring this up" He said, pulled out a random piece of paper from his suit, then smacked it on the table. He gestured to Claire to pick it up and she did so hesitantly but found nothing inside of it.
She arched an eyebrow "It's empty"
He laughed "I know, I was just trying to be dramatic"
She tossed it away angrily and he smiled "On a serious note though, I thought you'd actually want to hit him were it hurt, but of course, of your own volition. But since that wouldn't do. I should remind you that you owe me a lot of money"
Claire gulped.
"And, I also know that you can't pay me a single dime. And, even if I was to say you shouldn't pay for all the money you helped him launder, then you'd still have to worry about your bail"
She arched an eyebrow "What?"
He grinned "Who do you think got you out of prison, Miss Williams?"
Claire stared at him dumbfound.
"It still makes no sense, why me?""Because, you're the only one currently alive from the previous team he had"
Claire's pupils widened "What?"
"While I was doing my research on who laundered my money. I found out he killed them all. He called it "recycling". He first got them all out of prison, took some who no longer behaved quite as loyal as they used to, then, executed them. Those whose loyalty remained, lost it when he murdered their colleagues and so, they died too"
"Shit" Claire muttered.
"A month later and Adkins has a whole new army of lapdogs. Like nothing ever happened. The new league was none of my concern, they know nothing about how my money was taken and also, they are more loyal to the bone to Adkins. I have already tried to get information off of one but he chose death than to even speak up"
Claire gulped.
"And, just when all my hopes had vanished and I thought Adkins was about to have one on me, my associates told me not everyone was dead and soon enough, I was given your home address, amongst other things"
"Oh" Claire said.
"And, I thought to myself. This is good. Someone who probably has a much bigger reason to help me destroy the fucker that stole from me. Unfortunately, it seems you don't share such sentiment. But anyways, are you aware of Amanda Todd's death?"
Claire stared at him.
"One of the ChickLit members? She's dead?""She is" Roberto admitted "Her autopsy along with reports claim that she committed suicide. But, I and my source have reason to believe otherwise"
Claire arched an eyebrow "Your source? What source?"
"None of your concern, Miss Williams"
"And, what proof do they have?"
He shrugged "I don't know. That's why you are going to help me get the proof I need, along with anything else that can be useful to get back at him"
Claire frowned "Why can't your source do it for you if they are so sure?"
He arched an eyebrow that asked " really" and she huffed.
"Right, the debt" She said, paused, then turned to him "Why though? Why all this? Why not just kill me and Adkins and move on?"
