The guard at the entrance pushed the door open for Claire to walk inside and she gave him a curt nod before she strolled into the visiting room. She was led by another guard stationed not too far from her to an empty seat which Claire then sat on.
As Claire's eyes danced around the prison's visiting room, she began to think on the irony of how she spent so long behind bars without ever entering the visiting room. That was the same for both Susana and Amy, who just like Claire had no one in or outside the prison except for themselves.
A door ahead of Claire opened up and Susana along with a guard stepped outside. As Susana's eyes met Claire's, a genuine smile formed completely contrasting the stoic demeanor she had on.
Claire managed a small smile on her face as Susana got closer to her. She sat down on her chair, grinned, then cleared her throat.
"Didn't think you'd ever pay me a visit" Susana said.
"And, why is that?" Claire folded her arms.
"You know you aren't the sentimental type" Susana stated and Claire nodded in agreement. Her eyes trailed down to Susana's and she smiled at the purple bruise the left was sporting.
"Got into a fight?"
Susana's face fell while she traced the bruise with her hand.
"Yeah, I did"
Claire's smile faded as she noticed her solemn look. "What's wrong?"
Susana exhaled then sank into her seat. She studied Claire, like she was contemplating telling her before she shook her head then sat back up.
"Amy is being killed today"
Claire's pupils widened and the color from her face drained.
"What? Why? Who's killing her?"
"The law" Susana stated as she balled her fist "Further investigations found her guilty to more than just one murder. Apparently, she had been offing a ton of people as sacrifices to her god"
Claire sank into her seat in despair and sighed.
"Oh, Amy"
"The victim's were majorly criminals, but I guess the cops didn't care about that. Murder is murder at the end of the day, right?" Susana said and both ladies went quiet.
Amy wasn't exactly the almost mentally stable person that they knew, in fact, amongst the trio. She was definitely the most unhinged. But despite her many flaws, Amy was a wonderful friend to both parties, loyal, caring, and down right affectionate. She was willing to do so much for the people she loved and cared for. And, according to Amy herself the only two people she had ever loved and cared for with such intensity were these two ladies who never judged or hated her for her past leading up to her arrest.
And, just like Amy cared strongly for them, they equally cared for her.
That much could be known from how broken Susana and Claire looked as they tried to process the whole thing.
"Is she still in her cell?"
"No, they took her to a personal one to prep her for the thing. But, I'm able to pull a few strings to see her before that happens"
"That's good" Claire said somberly.
"Yeah" Susana exhaled then chuckled "It's gonna be real lonely from here on out, huh?" She tried to joke but Claire stared at her with intense piety.
"I would've made new friends but everyone here either fears me or is out to kill me" She exhaled "Not that I mind it, but still"
The ladies remained quiet for a while before Claire's eyes flashed in recollection.
