Chapter 13: Eery occurrences

"I believe in miracles!" Steve sings while he grills the chicken in the pan, him singing along to the music on the radio, Amir and Summer sitting at the kitchen table while Summer does homework. "Since you came into my life!"

"Dad please." Amir says while turning back to him.

"Oooohhhh yaaaa!"

Amir just shakes his head while he turns back around, smiling when he sees Summer match the appropriate words to the appropriate formulas on her science homework. "Wow look at you!" Amir says before giving her a high five.

Summer smiles wider. "It makes sense now!"

"Misses Goodman is a good tutor huh?"

"Yeah huh! The best! She's pretty and she always tells me how pretty I am." Summer smiles.

"Well she isn't wrong." Amir smiles while poking her nose, making her giggle.

Amir hears the doorbell, making him get up and go over to answer the door, revealing Stephanie dressed in a green turtle neck and blue jeans and boots, her hair down her back. "Hey." Amir greets while opening up the door more.

"Hey." Stephanie says back with a smile while waving, making her way inside of the house. "Hello there Summer!"

"Misses Goldman!" Summer exclaims before she runs over to hug her, Stephanie smiling while hugging her back. "Look I did my science homework! Wanna see?!"

"Of course I do!" Stephanie replies, making her way to the dinning room table. "Hello Mister Harrington!" She waves politely.

"Hey hey Stephanie you want a grilled chicken sandwich?" Steve questions while still cooking.

"Oh no thank you I already ate." Stephanie responds, her sitting in Amir's chair while Amir sits from across Summer and Stephanie.

"See it's a match up and I matched the formulas with the names." Summer points.

"Let's see." Stephanie says while picking up the paper, her nodding her head with a smile while scratching her neck through the turtle neck, her face lightly scrunching up while doing so. "Wow Summer this is good! All correct!"

"Yay!" Summer exclaims while giving Stephanie a high five, Steve going to put plates down for both Amir and Summer. "Thank you daddy!" She says before she takes a bite out of her sandwich.

"No problem sweetheart." Steve responds before quickly cleaning up the kitchen and going to put his jacket back on. "I have to go on and get back to work."

"Alright Dad see you later." Amir waves.

"Bye daddy!"

"See you later Mister Harrington!"

"Bye guys!" Steve says back before he leaves out of the door, locking it behind him.

Amir takes a bite out of his sandwich, seeing Stephanie go to scratch her neck again over the turtle neck, her face lightly scrunching up a little. "Itchy fabric?" Amir questions.

Stephanie looks up at Amir, shrugging her shoulders with a smile. "Yeah a little, but it's fine. Rather a itchy neck then getting sick with the cold weather. I already have allergies enough as it is."

Amir nods his head. "A scarf would probably do better then."

Stephanie nods her head. "Good idea, I'll definitely get one of those."

"I like your bracelet!" Summer points at the bracelet around her wrists.

"Oh thank you. I got it custom made at a gift shop I went to when I was in Maine." Stephanie explains.
