"Miss Jones, my office. Now!" Her boss's voice came over the intercom. She heaved a sigh before knocking on his door.
"Come in"
She walked in and shut the door behind her.

Her eyes narrowed to the nameplate on his desk.
Has that been there all this while? I could swear that it wasn't there. I can't believe his name was right there. She thought to herself.

Boldly written on the nameplate was- Andre Davies. President of AD'S DUDS.
It all made sense, somewhat to her.
But the name rang a bell.

"You called me, sir," she said breaking her thoughts.
"Yeah. I'd like you to meet the vice president. You haven't seen him, 'cause he was on a business trip. But he got back yesterday"
He said.

She hadn't noticed that someone else was in the room.
Her boss stood up to introduce them both.

"Miss Jones, meet Mason Miller. The vice president and my best friend"

She'd only read about him. He was a major shareholder in the company. One of the reasons why the company made it this far.

"A pleasure to meet you, sir," she said turning in his direction.
He stared at her for a while before letting out a gasp.
"Do you both know each other?" Andre asked.
"Yeah"
"No"
"Which am I supposed to believe?"

"Aren't you the girl that bumped into me yesterday? While bawling her eyes out?"
He asked.
"You weren't in glasses, nor did you have these freckles" he added.

She took a good look at him. He was tall and handsome, he had shiny black hair that stopped on his neck.
She couldn't recognize him but he looked familiar.

"I'm sure you were mistaken. I hear a lot of people look alike"
" Back to the issue at hand. I want you both to work on something. Miss jones, get the necessary paperwork from Mason and bring it to me after proofreading"
"Okay sir"
"You both may leave"

Mason's office...
She sat in his office as they both went through the paperwork together. It was awfully silent but it wasn't the awkward kind.

"I'll go give the boss these to sign," she said about to leave.
"Wait.."
She turned "did I miss something?" She asked.
"Are you okay? Is everything okay? You didn't look okay yesterday" he said looking concerned.
"Family issues" she simply answered.
"Personal?"

What part of family issues didn't he get?
Was this his way of trying to make her talk?

"I don't think you have the right to know. I'll be on my way now"
"You know you can tell me anything right?"

Who was he that she could tell anything to?
She didn't owe him any explanation.

"Just give it a rest already!" She snapped.
She had tears in her eyes already. She hadn't gone home yet, Annie and her hadn't sorted it out yet. It had barely been a day since it happened.

" I can't believe I'm crying in front of you again. This is just embarrassing."
"Maybe it's fate's way of saying we should be friends" he smiled.
"Oh shut up." She chuckled while playfully rolling her eyes.
"I'm sorry sir," she said realizing her words.

"It's fine, just call me Mason. We're friends now" he said with a smile.
"Okay?"

Can a vice president and personal assistant be friends though?..

"Come here," he said opening his arms.
She hesitated but she could use a shoulder to cry on.

She enclosed the space between them with her body.
"It's gonna be okay. I'm here for you friend"
He said making her laugh.
"I can't get used to you calling me "friend"."
She said disengaging the hug.

"Okay, I won't make it weird. I'll just call you Amy, short for Amelia. Only I get to call you that"
She blushed a bit, she'd forgotten why she was crying.

" I like it, Amy."
"Glad you do."
"Thank you"
"For?"
"For not asking why I was crying and for consoling me. We were barely strangers but you took my hand and called me your friend"
"Don't be so dramatic. It's fine. We're friends now." He smiled.

"Thanks. I'll get this paperwork to the boss before I lose my job" she chuckled lightly.
"You should"
