TWELVE

WALKING INTO THE ABANDONED TOWN the trio came across an empty field where the grass was over grown and a pile of burnt, dead body's laid. Her eye brows furrowed at the gruesome sight, the charred bones of the once living. She shook her head, trying to contain her thoughts as she kept following after the two Grimes.

Dirtied yellow spray paint laid on every few squares of concrete on the sidewalk, a arrow pointing in a certain direction they were going. She started slowing down her steps, carefully examining the buildings around her as she they stopped at the corner of a building. She waited for Rick to start walking, following his lead.

Her hand clutched her bow, readying up in case anything were to happen. An odd sight in front of them, "What the hell is that?" The woman said, speaking what all of them were thinking.

"I don't know." Rick muttered, his gun in hand. They moved closer, getting a better look at the traps someone placed out on the streets. Aria stepped over the words spray painted in orange, 'Turn around and live.'

The road was a mess as the traps whoever laid out took up the entire vicinity. Wood carved at the tips to make a spear, placed into buckets that stood out far for something like the dead to get caught on. Even a random bird trapped in a cage next to a few random skateboards. A black car in the middle, sharp sticks poking out in every way.

"Rick, someone's already been here. Obviously." Aria strained, trying to be careful with walking straight into the traps.

"Doesn't mean they found what we're looking for." Rick replied as he ducked under a rope that was strung in the air. "Couple of the places are just up ahead. Let's get in and get the hell out of here."

"Okay..." Aria sounded skeptical, not too sure how good of an idea this seemed to be. She felt as though they were walking straight through a trap, literally.

"There." Rick pointed up ahead. "Tyrell's. A shotgun and two handguns. License issued to Tyrell Debbs."

Carl suddenly tapped his dad on the arm, pointing behind them to the dead. A lone one walking straight towards them. Aria went to lift her bow up, grabbing an arrow before Rick shook his head. "Don't, it'll get caught."

She placed the arrow back as the dead did just that, getting caught in the barbed wire before a gun shot sounded going straight through its head. Aria jumped at the unexpected sound, her hand grabbing the arrow faster again and placing it into her bow. She heard the man on top of the building yell, "Hands!"

The woman's hands went up upon seeing the other twos do the same. She was hesitant as she kept hearing the man talk, aiming his sniper right at them. "Now you drop what you got and go. Your guns, your shoes and that bow."

"All of it." He yelled louder. "Ten seconds."

"Run for the car now." Rick told Carl and Aria under his breath, still looking at the crazed man on the rooftop. Carl went to protest as did Aria.

"We need his rifle. Every gun we can get increases our chance of survival." Aria stated, the man counting down from above. "I can get up there, you gotta trust me on this though."

Rick watched the man for a second, "Carl, go." He aimed his gun up, shooting at the guy on the roof. Carl ran while Aria went straight to the building as she dodged the bullets aiming for her left and right.
