TWENTY SEVENARIA BLAKE SAT SILENTLY IN A POOL of her own sorrows. Still on the same uncomfortable road from before, she couldn't really tell how long she sat there for after she stopped crying. It could've been hours or even minutes, she didn't really know. No one spoke a word after Aria confessed her apologies to Daryl, something she still felt like was her fault even if he dismissed it. Deep down she knew it was, no matter how hard any of them tried to convince her there was nothing she could've done differently the guilt still crept up and stuck to her like glue.
There was a lot of things she could've—should've— done differently.
The only thing that brought her attention away from the leaves on the dirtied road was a few pairs of footsteps walking the groups way. She clutched her bow, her hand at an awkward angle as she waited for someone to talk that wouldn't have been her. Her eyes narrow as she strained her ears to listen, despite how hard it seemed to actually focus on anything else than the doomed chaos swirling inside her head.
"Well, look it here." The leader of the six man grouped said, or what she supposed was the leader with how brave he was stepping that close to them. Daryl took matters in his own hands, the anger circling his veins fueled as he swung his fist into the guys face knocking him on the ground. Everyone stood up, weapons raised at whoever, the other guys guns aimed straight at them as they did so. "Damn it, hold up!"
"I'm claiming the vest." One of the guys said, pointing with his weapon towards the vest Daryl wore. His smirk grew bigger as he continued, "I like them wings."
"Yeah, and I bet you like your hands which you won't have in the next few seconds if you don't back the fuck up." Aria seethed, her bow aimed right at the man's forehead as the guy cocked his head to the side at her words. In a split second she could've let it go and he'd be down on the road, dead. But the leaders voice caught her attention, "Hold up."
The leader started laughing, maniacally as he stood up wiping the blood away from his nose. "A bowman. See a man with a rifle, he could have been some kind of photographer or soccer coach back in the day. But a bowman's a bowman through and through. What do you got there, 150-pound draw weight?"
"I'll be donkey licked if that don't fire at least three hundred feet per second." The guy seemed to know his way around a crossbow, but Aria didn't want to listen to the man go on about the weapon in Daryl's hand. But she remained quiet until she didn't feel the need anymore.
"I've been looking for a weapon like that. Of course, i'd want one with a bit more ammo and minus the oblongata stains." His words seemed to be humorous to the man Aria went off on as he laughed. "Get yourself in some trouble, partner?"
"You pull that trigger, these boys are gonna drop you and them three over there several times over." The man stated, nodding towards the men around them with guns. "That what you want? Come on fella, suicide is stupid. Why hurt yourself when you can hurt other people?"
Aria's face scrunched in disgust at the man's words, hurting others was never Aria's first intentions until they put themselves in that situation and gave her no choice but too. Nor did she think suicide was stupid. It was more complex than stupidity and it had more depth to it than just simply hurting yourself. It made her beyond upset to hear the man speak so negative of something that was an important topic as such. He had no business talking about what was stupid or not, so many people suffer and he had no right to just dismiss it like that.
