SEVENTEEN

THIRTY DAYS HAD GONE BY WITHOUT an accident. Philip Blake was nowhere in sight, many thought he was left starve to death as he chose to leave his group of people behind. Many paid no mind to the fact he ever existed, not thinking twice about him and their old life since they were let into the prison. The prison's cement walls were a barrier, letting them leave parts of the past behind.

Everything seemed to be going great, everything flourished without any trouble. Rick started farming outside, even in the blazing heat he was there. Aria guessed it helped distract him from his old thoughts of his now dead wife, she understood. There were even flowers growing by the gates and water. They had food and company.

Aria and Grey fell right into place with the tight knit group, every grudge broke and put to rest. Maggie and Aria started growing closer, after everything happened the younger woman showed Aria the ring Glenn gave her. Maggie Greene was like a sister and best friend Aria never had all in one and she couldn't express enough the fact she absolutely loved her like a sister.

Grey however, got close to the younger Greene sister. Greyson followed the girl around like a lost puppy, oddly enough Beth seemed to enjoy his company as she often smiled when he was near. The two often became a known topic Aria and Maggie talked about, seemingly both loved the way they interacted.

Rick Grimes was another story, Aria couldn't quite place her finger on just yet. His thoughts were an unknown mystery to the woman, usually. She couldn't tell what he was thinking as he stole quick glances at her from afar. Or when she'd offer him help outside and the two would dig at the ground in silence, only to spike a conversation that left both laughing lightly.

Aria couldn't help but to smile as she saw the prison flourish, it beamed in tranquility, although you could still hear and see the walkers along the fence side. The nature around grew, beautifully. Aria loved to see the way they turned a once nightmare into something they could see themselves have an almost normal life there.

A scruffy voice broke Aria out of her thoughts, "Grey wants me to teach him some more." Her eyes shot to Daryl, he raised his crossbow up as a gesture to what he was talking about.

Aria nodded, her arms crossed on the cafeteria table she sat at. "That's fine, if he annoys you too bad bring him back inside and give him something else to do around here."

Daryl nodded his head, his eyes darted to where Greyson stood excitedly by the prison door. "I don't know why he likes this thing so much."

"I think he just likes having you around, Daryl, and the crossbow is something you both have an interest in." Aria smiled as she saw how excited Greyson seemed to be. Daryl shook his head, "Don't know why the kid likes me."

"He wants someone to look up to, he went from the one person he did everything with to never being able to see them again." Aria stated as her eyes drifted to and from Daryl and her son. "Plus I really do think he likes you Daryl. You should hear him after you both come back inside that's all he talks about."

The two sat there for a minute before Aria spoke again, "Thank you for doing this by the way. I know kids really aren't your thing, even though I think you just want me to believe they aren't. He really does have fun when he's learning with you. He seems genuinely happy right now and you're a big part of why."
