FIFTEENARIA BLAKE NEVER INTENDED TO make it this long in the apocalypse nor this long with a group of survivors. They were surviving, doing anything possible to stay true to that label, and Aria Blake caught herself befriending whoever she could within the tight knit walls of the group. Even if some had different opinions than she seemed to have, she still didn't want to leave.
The woman found herself on top of the guard tower beside Maggie, whom she had grown pretty fond of during the short amount of time she was at the prison. The two were conversing lightly, making small talk here and there when they thought necessary. Aria looked over at her friend with a small smile, "So how did you and Glenn meet?"
Maggie smiled at the thought, it only wavering as she remembered a key detail. "It was at our farm. I remember Rick running through the field holding Carl, he got shot sadly. My dad helped him and they camped outside for awhile, some of the people with Rick's group at the time didn't like how my dad ran things."
"But that doesn't matter anymore. I went on a run with Glenn and a few others and we were in a store. And we kind of, y'know." Maggie faltered in her words causing Aria's eyes to widen.
Aria laughed, shaking her head. "In a store?" Maggie nodded, embarrassed as she hid her face in her hands still holding a smile. "I mean I don't blame you though."
"Exactly, I thought it's the end of the world why not?" Maggie shrugged, her smile only widening as she thought of the memories of her and Glenn. "But that's how it all started and I just- there was something about him."
Maggie turned her head to look at Aria, "I really love him. I've never felt this way before but i'm glad it's with him."
"Love can be complex, it's a foreign feeling when you've never experienced it before. I'm so happy for you, Maggie. Glenn's an amazing person and you deserve to be happy." Aria placed her hand on the woman's shoulder, giving her a comforting squeeze.
"You deserve to be happy too, Aria." Maggie told, her smile turning into a tight lipped one as she felt empathy for the slightly older woman next to her.
Aria looked away, her eyes watching the world outside of the guard tower. Her smile disappeared and her hand clamped back to her side. She sighed, turning her head to meet Maggie's gaze again. Maggie spoke softly, "When did you realize you were in love?"
"High school." Aria's features lit up upon the thought. "People called me crazy and naive for thinking I was in love back then, at such a young age. But I knew what I felt and it was like I was on top of the world when I was with him."
"He- Parker was my first and only love. He was beautiful and such a great person. He was even more amazing as a dad." The blue eyed girl smiled sadly, looking down at her hands before back up at the woman who listened. "But sometimes not all beautiful things last."
"Do you still love him?" Maggie asked, only wondering what her feelings towards him still were after everything that had happened.
Aria nodded, "I'll always love him. That's not something that just goes away. But i've came to terms with the fact he isn't here anymore and he'd want me to be happy while I still am here."
"He sounds like he was a great man." Maggie said softly.
Aria nodded once again, "He truly was. But if i'm being honest, i'm glad he doesn't have to go through this anymore. This world tears and breaks people apart. I'm glad he doesn't have to endure that kind of pain."
