Chapter 2

Hyunjin Pov:

The school was packed when I arrived with Eunchae at the Academy. As I walked alongside her in the halls I was bombarded with nonstop chatter of things like,

"Omg there she is."

"Did you hear? He was watching her at the competition yesterday?"

"Do you think he likes her? How could he? She's not that pretty."

I rolled my eyes and walked briskly towards my locker with Eunchae following closely on my heels.

"Hyunjin, did you hear what they're saying?" My best friend asked worriedly.

"Yes I did, and I don't give a fuck. I don't care much about Yeonjun anyway so it doesn't concern me." I responded .

"Oh okay. . . "

"Hey! Moon Hyunjin!" I heard a girl call out behind me.

I turned and groaned when I saw Karina, Winter, Giselle, and Ningning. HYBE Academy's bitch brigade.

"What do you want, Karina?" I sighed.

"What's up with you and Yeonjun?" Karina snarled.

"Nothing." I replied calmly.

"Lies! We've seen how he looks at you, you little whore!" Winter added.

"I'm telling you bitches, I have no interest in him." I growled.

"Yeah yeah yeah, keep saying that. If you don't stop, it'll end badly for you!" Giselle threatened.

"Guys. Let's not fight!" Eunchae pleaded.

"Shut up, loser!" Ningning snapped.

"You're calling my friend a loser! Why you-" I shouted.

"Ladies. What's the matter?" A silky smooth voice interrupted us.

I glanced to my right and groaned when I saw Yeonjun standing in the hallway, a hand in his jean pocket, and lips pulled up in a slight smirk.

"Yeonjun!"

I rolled my eyes at the cutesy voice that Karina had put on, eyes sparkling with fangirl admiration.

"Hyunjin and I were just talking, right girls?" Karina asked, smiling broadly.

"Right. Right." The three other girls responded nodding.

Yeonjun glanced at me.

"Is this true, Hyunjin?"

I shrugged.

"I guess."

"Hmm." Yeonjun mused before walking briskly towards me.

"Wait. What are you doing?" I stammered.

I yelped as the male slung his arm around my shoulder before dragging me down the hallway.

"Yeonjun! Where are you going?" I heard Karina exclaim.

"Going to have a little chat with Hyunjin. See you around, Karina!"

Panicked, I searched for Eunchae to only see her grinning mischievously in my direction.

"Eunchae, help me!" I yelped.

"Sorry Hyunjin. I have a history assignment I need to finish. Have fun with Yeonjun!" She yelled before skipping away.

I turned to see Yeonjun smirking down at me.

"You heard your friend. Let's go to the courtyard shall we?'

A few minutes later, I stood outside in the school yard with the male. When he released me I wasted no time in putting some distance between the two of us.

"I'm not going to hurt you, you know." Yeonjun spoke calmly.

"Yeah right. Say that to the countless hearts you've broken." I spat.

"Harsh, but true."

"What do you want?" I sighed.

Yeonjun then opened something on his phone before showing it to me. I quickly read what was on the screen. HYBE Entertainment purchases Pledis Entertainment. Auditions happening on May 31. Gender - girls. Ages - 16-24.

"Cool. Why'd you show it to me?" I asked, tossing the phone back to the male.

"Well apparently a very popular group that mysteriously disappeared, called Seventeen is the one who founded Pledis. The leader, S.Coups is apparently the CEO. I guess since now they're back they want to make a group not continue their own musical career. The reason I showed you this is because I think you would make a good idol."

I laughed.

"Me? Please. I can't sing."

"So? You'll train. Besides, you could be a main dancer. No doubt."

Yeonjun then revealed a video post on SNS which showed me performing Tomboy.

"See? I filmed this yesterday and it's already blown up. 5 million views, 4.2 million likes, 2 million comments, and 1.5 million shares? Girl, you're more than capable of being a star."

"YOU FILMED ME?" I gasped in horror.

"Hey, it wasn't for anything weird, I swear!" Yeonjun protested.

"Good god. . . why is HYBE mentioned anyway? Aren't they in charge of our school? Why are they an entertainment company?" I asked.

"Hyunjin. . . you don't know?"

"Know what?"

"HYBE originally was a small company called BigHit. But they grew after their boy group BTS grew to one most popular music bands in the world. They then changed their name to HYBE and they bought other companies as their subsidiaries. I guess recently they've gotten so powerful they can found schools like the Academy for us minors, or the University for college students. They're no joke either . The University and Academy are both really well known even on par with other schools like Hanlim and SOPA."

"So Pledis is their most recent investment." I commented.

"Right. Didn't you say your dad was a former kpop idol?" Yeonjun asked.

"Yeah. Main dancer too."

"Hmm, it seems like you take after him. Has he told you what group he belonged to?"

I paused. Now that I thought about it, my father had never told me that information about him.

"He didn't."

"Interesting." Yeonjun hummed.

"Anyway. I called you out here to tell you about the audition. I strongly encourage you to try out. Wouldn't want your talent to go to waste now would we?"

I huffed.

"Sure sure."

"Cool. The bell's about to ring in 5 minutes. We better head back inside."

I nodded and followed Yeonjun back into the school building. An audition. . . this would be interesting.
