Hyunjin Pov:
"I also passed." I stammered.
My eyes wandered around my empty room in confusion. How? Sure, I did well in the dancing, but my singing? That was simply atrocious.
"Hyunjin? Are you good?" I heard Eunchae ask through the call.
"Yeah. . ."
"What did you pass?"
I let out a small shriek as the door to my room flung open to reveal my dad, with an eyebrow raised.
"Uh. A test! That's right, I passed a really hard test!"
My parent frowned at my poor acting skills.
"What-"
"What's that? You passed a really hard test? Oh my word I am so proud of you!" My mother suddenly appeared, wrapping me into a tight hug.
"Ow!" I squeaked.
"Sorry dear. So what subject was it in?"
I glanced at my friends on the video call, who were all wearing confused expressions.
"Math. Algebra 2 with trigonometry. Awful stuff." I lied.
My mother's eyes widened.
"Oh sweetheart! I'm so proud of you! I-"
"Aera? Can I talk to you for a second?" I heard my father ask from the doorway.
"Hmm? Sure thing." My mom replied leaving my room alongside her spouse.
When I was sure they left, I glanced at my tablet screen where my friends were waiting quietly.
"Hyunjin? What's with the secrecy?" Yeonjun questioned, eyes scrunching up with confusion.
"Guys meet me at the Kangaroo. I'll explain everything over there." I sighed.
A few minutes later, I sat with Yeonjun and Eunchae in the popular cafe, called The Kangaroo, which was run by parent's friends, Chris and Felix.
"So. . . you're saying Minghao told you to keep the fact you were auditioning and possibly becoming a trainee a secret because he thinks that Jun and Aera won't support it? Eunchae stated, stirring her lemonade with a straw.
"Did he say why he thinks they won't support it?" Yeonjun pressed.
I shook my head.
"You need a guardian or parent's signature to sign the trainee contract if you want to become one though. How the hell are you going to get them to sign it?" Eunchae mused.
"Easy. I'll forge it." I shrugged.
"Moon Hyunjin!" My best friend exclaimed, horrified.
I smirked.
"You really think my parents would let me continue dancing if they knew I was getting C's in tests?"
"Oh my god. . . " Eunchae groaned.
"Wow, and you call me a bad boy. Look at you, bad girl." Yeonjun smirked.
I choked on my beverage from that statement.
"Urk. Yeonjun. You bastard!"
"And here we go again." the male sighed, leaning back in his chair.
"Well, I'll forge the signature and then tell Minghao that I passed I guess." I sighed.
Eunchae shook her head in disbelief.
"Can't believe that my best friend does shady shit."
"You know what's weird?" Yeonjun suddenly spoke.
"What?" Eunchae and I both asked, staring at the boy with curiosity.
"We saw Minghao that day shaking hands with one of the trainers during audition day right?" Yeonjun mused.
"Yeah he also told me that he was old friends with the CEO." I stated.
"Seriously? Isn't the CEO the leader of the superstar group, Seventeen?" Eunchae added.
"Guys. The trainer that we saw Minghao interact with is the lead vocalist of Seventeen, Yoon Jeonghan." Yeonjun pressed.
"So the members are literally running the place." I murmured
"So what does this have to do with Hyunjin?" Eunchae asked.
"Minghao mentioned that he was an ex-member of an influential Kpop group, right? What if he was a member of Seventeen? That would explain his connections to the CEO of Pledis, and Jeonghan. Maybe because he sees the talent that Hyunjin has and that's why he's encouraging her to try out." Yeonjun suggested.
I paused. Now that Yeonjun had brought it up, it was indeed suspicious that he seemed so friendly with the Seventeen members.
"Wait. If Minghao is an ex-Seventeen member, then wouldn't Jun be also? I'm pretty sure the two are both ex-members from the same group." Yeonjun suddenly sat up, eyes twinkling with excitement.
"Now why would Jun be against seeing his old members, if Minghao is on good terms with them?" Eunchae frowned.
I chuckled.
"Looks like something's amiss guys. I'll get the signature tonight, and then we'll head into the building to start trainee life after school. Sounds good?"
Eunchae and Yeonjun nodded.
"Perfect. Let's get this ball rolling then."
