Chapter 26

Aera Pov:

Minghao returned about 20 minutes later dressed in black from head to toe. I glanced up at him with tired eyes. My whole body hurt, not to mention the fact that Minghao had removed my prosthetic limbs leaving me immobile. Beside me Jun, lay asleep, with dried blood covering his hair, due to the fracture in his skull. Minghao marched over and kicked Jun in the gut, making the man wake up with a start.

"Get up you piece of shit." Minghao spat, as Jun cried out in pain.

I whimpered in fear as Minghao dragged Jun to his feet.

"Help Aera up as well and make it quick."

Jun gently grabbed my waist and lifted me up before staring back at his former friend.

"Good. Now head upstairs to the second floor and to the first bedroom on the right. No funny stuff or I'll blow your brains out, understand?" Minghao threatened.

Jun nodded, and carried me to the said bedroom, where there was a large wardrobe which had glowing red energy emanating from its doors. Minghao soon entered and opened the closet which as I had suspected, held a portal presumably back to the Rift.

"You're taking us back?" Jun rasped.

"Yeah. Have a problem with that?"

Minghao tossed an envelope onto the bed before motioning for us to enter first. When Jun hesitated, the male hit my husband over the head with the but of his gun, making my partner stumble but not fall. Jun eventually headed inside the portal with me in his arms, and I closed my eyes as I felt the familiar pull of the Rift dragging me back into its world.

Hyunjin Pov:

I dashed to Minghao's mansion and knocked rapidly on the door.

"Hello?" I shouted.

No response.

I tried the door and to my surprise, found it unlocked. I hurried inside, and rushed around but found no one. The house was empty.

"Minghao you shitbag, show yourself!" I yelled.

I then heard a low hum coming from upstairs. I ascended the stairs and found a room with its door ajar. When I entered I saw no one but a white envelope on the bed, and an open wardrobe that seemed to be showing some sort of red void, which was the source of all the humming. I read the letter.

Dear Hyunjin,

I had to go back to the Rift a bit early so I couldn't wait for you. I'm so sorry. Don't worry Jun and Aera are with me. Broken, but alive. Come through the portal, it'll take you to the Rift. Don't worry you won't die instantly. However if you want to have a chance to be reunited with your parents make sure to bring with you Yeonjun, Sunghoon, and Eunchae. I hope to see you at the Game. I growled and tore the paper into pieces. The little bitch. Who did he think he was? I glanced at my phone. I had bunches of unread texts from the group chat.

MINGHAO? Hyunjin, what are you doing? (Eunchae)

Hyunjin? (Sunghoon)

Love? (Yeonjun)

Bestie? (Eunchae)

Friend? (Sunghoon)

Why isn't she responding? (Eunchae)

Well? Did she pick up? (Eunchae)

I sighed. As I read through the messages, I watched as my three friends came online.

I paused before replying.

Hey guys. I'm at Minghao's mansion. (Hyunjin)

His mansion? Are you crazy? (Eunchae)

I glanced at the glowing portal next to me. I didn't have much time.

Come to the mansion. Go to the second floor and first bedroom on the right. There should be an open wardrobe with a red portal. See you on the other side. (Hyunjin)

I tucked my phone away and took a deep breath. Here nothing went. I stepped into the red void and winced as the light grew brighter before everything turned white. . .
