Chapter 23

Hyunjin Pov:

"Goddammit this door's locked." Sunghoon groaned, trying the door to my apartment.

"What should we do?" Eunchae stammered.

"Back up."

I glanced at Yeonjun, who was backing up from the entrance .

"What are you doing-" I began to say before I was interrupted by a loud bang!

I blinked my eyes in shock as Yeonjun repeatedly rammed his body into the door, till I heard the lock break. The boy gasped as he fell through the broken door into the house. I quickly followed inside with Eunchae and Sunghoon on my trail.

"Mom? Dad?" I yelled, rushing in.

Silence greeted my call. I ran around the apartment, checking each room but there was no one. Every place was neat and untouched, and there was no sign of a struggle. It was like Jun and Aera had just vanished into thin air.

"Hey Hyunjin?" I heard Eunchae shout.

"Yeah?"

I rushed into the kitchen and saw my friends staring at a postcard that was lying next to my parent's phones. I scanned over the piece of paper, and my blood froze.

Dear Hyunjin,

Hello this Minghao. I'm sure you've noticed your parents absence right now. Currently they are sitting in my basement chained to the wall. There is a way to get them back unharmed, by following these three steps:

Do not call the police. Instead call Haewon, Kyujin, Lily, Jaemin, Chris, and Felix. Ask them to tell you about the Game in the Rift.

Do your own research and come to my mansion within 3 days after meeting with the said people in step 1. You should bring Hong Eunchae, Choi Yeonjun, and Park Sunghoon with you as well.

Play the Game and survive.

If you break any of these steps it will cost your parents lives. If you do not play the Game in time your parents will also die. Good luck,

Along with the note was a printed picture of Aera and Jun, tied to a wall with a gun pointed to their heads. I began to sob out of fear. Why was this happening to me? I felt Yeonjun's strong arms around me and I cried into his chest for a good 15 minutes. When I had calmed down, Eunchae finally broke the silence.

"So what do we do now?" She asked.

"Call the police?" Sunghoon suggested.

"We can't! He'll kill Aera and Jun!" Yeonjun protested.

"What then?" Sunghoon sighed.

"Give me a minute." I whispered, taking out my phone from my pocket.

I quickly typed in a number and waited for the other person to pick up.

"Hello?" A female voice finally answered.

"Hey, Haewon. Can I meet you at the Kangaroo with Kyujin, and Lily?" I requested.

"Uh. Sure? Is something wrong?"

"I'll tell you there."

A few minutes later I arrived with my friends at the cafe to see Haewon sitting at a table with Kyujin, Lily and her husband Jaemin. I sat down and the woman's smile faded when she saw my tearstained face.

"Oh Hyunjin honey, what happened?"

"Haewon. What can you tell me about a Game in the Rift?"

Haewon froze. Behind me I heard the loud crash of a plate being dropped onto the floor, and when I looked I saw the shocked face of Chris who had been bringing a tray of snacks over to us. (No not the snacks!) 

"How do you know about this?" Lily demanded.

"Minghao has kidnapped Aera and Jun." Yeonjun replied.

The three women gasped in horror.

"Minghao? I knew that man was suspicious from the start! Aera should have listened to me dammit!" Kyujin hissed, smacking Haewon.

"Well you aren't the most trustworthy when it comes to advice, dear." Jaemin piped up.

"Jaemin, how could you?" Kyujin whined.

"Guys please! Focus! My parent's lives are on the line!" I pleaded.

"Right, Right. Okay. Did he leave a note of some kind?"

I nodded and showed the letter to Haewon. The girl frowned as she read the note.

"Hyunjin. . . leave this to me and your uncles and aunts okay?"

"What? Aren't you going to tell me about this mysterious Game?' I spluttered.

"No. You have no use for that sort of information." Haewon objected.

"But he said. . ." Yeonjun protested.

"Never mind, I'll take care of this, you understand?" Haewon yelled suddenly.

There was silence.

"Yes ma'am" Eunchae whispered.

The four of us left the cafe shop in low spirits. The next day, Eunchae and I slowly walked away from the stage after performing Fearless and Blue Flame on MBC The Show Champion. We were both not in the right mind, as the kidnapping incident was hanging over our heads. Our leader, Chaewon noticed and asked,

"Maknae line. Are you good?"

I forced a smile and nodded.

"Yeah. We're fine."

We left the waiting room soon after that, when I suddenly received a call from Yeonjun.

"Hello?" I asked picking up the phone.

"Hey Hyunjin, I need you to come to the hospital asap." Lily's voice spoke.

"Why what's wrong?"

"Kyujin and Haewon have been stabbed."
