Chapter 24

Yeonjun Pov:

"Hyunjin. Come sit down." I called out to the nervous girl who was pacing the hospital hallways.

My girlfriend finally obliged, and sat down next to me, Sunghoon and Eunchae. We were all nervous after receiving the news. About another nerve wracking hour later a tired Jaemin appeared from the ER room.

"Hey you guys. Thanks for coming." The male sighed.

"How's Haewon and Kyujin? What happened?" Hyunjin stammered.

"They're alive, barely that is."

"Why?" Eunchae exclaimed.

"As you probably heard from Lily, Haewon and Kyujin were found stabbed in an alleyway about half a mile away from Minghao's mansion. Not only that but the stab wound is found to contain a deadly poison."

I felt my blood freeze.

"Why would they be there in front of his mansion?" Sunghoon pressed.

Jaemin took a deep breath.

"Kyujin and Haewon. . . they went to confront Minghao."

"What?" We all shrieked.

"Yeah. I guess it didn't go well. When they didn't return in an hour I called Lily to go check on them, and minutes later Haewon and Kyujin were being rushed into my hospital."

"Where's Felix? And Chris? And Lily?" Hyunjin asked.

"Felix isn't doing so well. The poor guy had some sort of panic attack after seeing the two girls so Chris and Lily took him home." Jaemin replied.

"Kyujin and Haewon are okay now though, right?" I hoped.

"Nope. The poison is still in them. I'm just on my break right now-"

"Doctor Na!" A nurse shouted from behind us.

"Hmm? Yes, what is it, Miyeon?"

"Emergency in wing 17!"

Jaemin's face fell.

"Shit. That's Haewon and Kyujin. Gotta go."

"Wait, what about my parents?" Hyunjin pleaded, grabbing the man's wrist.

"Sorry Hyunjin. You're going to have to figure out some other way. Now if you excuse me I have my wife's life to save." Jaemin responded quickly before dashing off.

I rushed to comfort my broken girlfriend who could only stand mutely in shock at the news.

"Guys. I have an idea." Sunghoon suddenly spoke.

"What is it?" Eunchae asked in a tired voice.

"I looked up Seventeen a few days earlier and I found something pretty interesting. Among the members Jun and Minghao are also seen as part of this group. This game that Minghao talked about, is it possible that Seventeen knows about it as well?"

I gasped.

"You're brilliant my man!" I exclaimed, grabbing my partner's hand.

"Where are we going?" Hyunjin spluttered.

"To Pledis to see Seungcheol!"

A few minutes later we arrived at the company, and the four of us wasted no time dashing inside past a confused Wonwoo at the front desk.

"Hi, Hyunjin-"

"Hi Wonwoo! Bye Wonwoo!" Hyunjin shouted, rushing into the elevator.

The girl pressed the button for the top floor and we ran down the hallways toward the CEO's office. When we got there the door was open and we entered, catching a conversing Jeonghan and Seungcheol off guard.

"Hyunjin?" Seungcheol gasped, startled.

"Seungcheol? I have a really urgent question."

"What is it?" Jeonghan asked, smiling.

"Do you guys know anything about a Game in the Rift?"

Both men's eyes darkened.

"How do you know about that?" Seungcheol finally spoke.

"Listen, Minghao has kidnapped my parents and he left us this letter." Hyunjin explained, showing the male the paper.

"Hyunjin. Leave this to me and the members. Do not engage." Seungcheol ordered sternly after reading.

"I can't do that! Haewon and Kyujin told me the exact same thing and they got stabbed!" Hyunjin yelped.

"Hyunjin. . ." Seungcheol warned.

"But-"

"Seungcheol." Jeonghan suddenly spoke.

We all looked at the male who had a solemn facial expression.

"It's time to tell her."

"You can't be serious!" Seungcheol protested.

"C'mon. I'll call the other members."

The older man let out a defeated sigh before nodding slowly.

"Fine. Hyunjin. You and your friends can sit over there." Seungcehol gestured at a table in the corner.

A few minutes later we were all gathered. Seungcheol. Jeonghan. Joshua. Hoshi. Wonwoo. Woozi. Dokyeom. Mingyu. Seungkwan. Vernon. Chan. Then there was us. Sunghoon. Eunchae. Hyunjin and I. Dokyeom finally spoke.

"So. . . what's going on?"

"I want to know about the Game in the Rift." Hyunjin demanded.

There was silence.

"Why would you want to know about that? How do you know about that?' Mingyu stammered.

"Minghao. He told me that I have to play this Game to save my parents, but no one will tell me how to do it!" My girlfriend snapped.

"Hyunjin. Have you ever heard of the Rift?" Or the game Dead by Daylight?" Wonwoo asked.

"I have. Isn't it the one on Steam where there's four survivors versus one killer and the survivors have to fix a bunch of generators and escape?" I piped up.

Wonwoo nodded.

"Correct. I don't know how to break this to you but the Rift and the Game is real. And the member's and I were kidnapped and forced to play the role of Killers."

Hyunjin's face paled.

"Wait what? What about my mom?"

"She played survivor. It looks like during that time Minghao got a bit obsessed with the role." Hoshi explained.

"And how did my parents meet?"

A long hour of explaining after. . .

"Wait, so you guys tortured survivors in this Rift and forced them to play this game of death for years? And then you came to Earth because you wanted to spy on my parents and me?" Hyunjin stammered, horrified.

"That's certainly a way to put it, but yeah?" Vernon grinned nervously.

"We wanted to meet you." Jeonghan begged.

"You're monsters!"

"Hyunjin." Joshua said standing up.

"Don't come near me."

I gently held my girlfriend's hand in an attempt to sooth her, but the poor thing was hysterical.

"Hyunjin, sweetheart, it's okay we won't hurt you." Dokyeom began to say, before the girl bolted out of the room yelling,

"STAY AWAY!"

Seungcheol sighed.

"Is there anyone who can go after her and calm her down?" He asked.

"I will." I offered before leaving.

A quick ten minute drive later and I scaled the stairs to Hyunjin's apartment, assuming that the girl would have returned to her home during a time of mental stress.

"Babe?" I called out as I pushed the ajar door.

I gasped when I saw the female. Hyunjin was lying unconscious on the floor with a note next to her body.
