"I'm supposed to do what?" Mads looked at the other werewolf irritated as he pressed a few leaves between books. The other wolf, Gael, looked at him pleadingly.
"To help me secretly paint the walls in Alpha Noah's room! Come on. Levi distracts Noah, which shouldn't be difficult for him, after all, he is his beta. And we beautify Noah's bedroom! For him and his future wife!" Gael clung to him. Levi's best friend could be very convincing. Most of the time he annoyed others until he got his way. Mads, however, was toying with the idea of embellishing Gael's hair with some glue and glitter, a gift from baker Paul. He simply wanted to tip the contents over Gael's head. Mads wasn't a big fan of hugs. Few had the privilege of embracing him. Gael was not one of them. "Please, please Mads! This is going to be so funny!" Gael's wolf ears twitched with excitement.
"Gael? Are you bothering my boyfriend right now?" Levi came into Mad's room and pulled his best friend away on his collar. Levi laughed amused.
"I'm trying to win him over to our cause", Gael protested, leaning against Levi. Levi had grown quite a bit in recent months. He was now almost as tall as Alpha Noah and almost as muscular. "Your torso isn't cuddly!", remarked Gael.
Mads snorted. "It's not for you! And no, I don't want to help to upset Alpha Noah. He's a friend and I'm too glorious to have trouble with him! It's never good to upset an Alpha! And Noah is a friend."
"Of course, he's a friend. That's why we want to play a little trick on him! Come on! Noah has found the lady of his heart. This should be celebrated! A joke among friends." Levi pushed Gael away from him, who sat down on Mad's bed with a sigh. "Glorious!", he mimicked Mads quietly, rolling his eyes. "What a diva!"
"By remodeling his bedroom?" Mads shook his head. "No. Do it alone. I'm not going to upset Noah. Not after he was so generous to me!" Alpha Noah practiced reading with Mads every weekend because he was struggling with it. The letters danced unpredictably across the paper instead of forming words. He coped with short texts, such as poems. But long texts? He didn't stand a chance.
Noah was a good friend. He gifted him several simple children's books with which Mads could practice. In addition, the Alpha had spoken to Mad's teachers at the pack school. Since then, school life has been easier for him. Although he was supposed to repeat the last school year, he often got shorter texts than the others and reading partners who read the texts to him if necessary, if there was no shorter text for him or if he did not make progress. Sometimes even his teacher took care of it.
"Mads?" Levi took a few leaves from his hand and set them aside. Then he put an arm around him and kissed his cheek. "It's just a funny joke. Noah is not like Alpha Ava. He understands fun. And we want to celebrate that he now has a girlfriend."
"According to the rumors", Mads reminded him. "Noah denies the existence of his darling wolf."
"For now", Gael murmured, laughing softly.
"But if you don't want to, it's fine." Levi kissed him again. "Gael also manages to break into Noah's house on his own and he can paint two kissing wolves with many hearts on his wall. But... May we have some of the glitter that baker Paul brought you? We could spread some of it in his bed." Levi laughingly buried his face in the back of Mad's neck.
Mads sighed. "I got the glitter because Paul knows I like to do handicrafts. Glitter is expensive. You can't get it here!"
"Just a little. Not everything", Gael begged.
"All right. A little bit. I'll fill it up for you", Mads finally agreed. "But I'm not helping you to decorate the room!"
Two days later, when Noah helped Mads read a text for his homework, Mads found that the alpha wolf was looking at Mad's glitter in a particularly bad mood. Some glitter stuck to his hands and pants. Did Levi and Mads actually manage to remodel Noah's bedroom?
"Is everything alright?", asked Mads cautiously.
Noah reached for the glass full of glitter and laughed softly. "They got the glitter from you, I suppose? Levi and Gael?"
"Um..." Mads became nervous. "No?"
"All right. I'm not angry with you. But Levi and Gael are busy scrubbing my bathroom and repainting the wall right now!" Noah ruffled Mads's bright curls. "I bring my Petsy home, want to impress her, and instead of a decent bedroom, she sees a questionable picture of two wolves having private fun together and my bed is full of glitter!"
"Petsy?" Mads grinned. He knew the wolf well. She was a teacher at the pack school. A pretty wolf with white wolf ears. "You're with Petsy?"
"It's still very fresh. So keep it to yourself, okay?" Noah's cheeks turned red. That suited him well. "She laughed when she saw my bedroom. It was embarrassing. And she didn't believe me that the two wolves on the wall weren't my choice of decoration."
"Gael wanted to paint a kiss..." Mads grinned in amusement. "He painted 'THAT'?"
"I would have preferred a kiss. And the picture was not very well done. The wolves looked like two sausages with legs!" Noah growled softly, causing Mads to wince. Noah noticed this and quickly stroked his back. "It's all right, Mads. Forgive me. Come. Let's read on!"
