Leopold

The next morning was extremely chaotic.

While they were all asleep, Trixi came into Blossom's cave and woke up the group. Leopold stared perplexed at the furious dragon that appeared roaring in the cave. At first, they thought something terrible had happened. Julia hugged Josef with a pale face, who blinked tiredly. Cleo and Charlotte cried out, while Hanna and Blossom sighed. Peter had thrown himself at Fiete in fright and was now clinging to him.

"How can that be?", Trixi grumbled without changing shape. "Another dragon! Tied to a witch! Why?"

Julia yawned and hugged the protesting Josef even tighter. "What? What's wrong?", she murmured sleepily.

"She must have found out about Pelle", Leopold whispered, kissing her cheek.

"Oh?" Julia blinked. "And that's why she scares us?" Then she looked at Trixi. "Good morning."

Trixi snorted. "Another dragon! You must be a very powerful witch, child. If you stay longer, you might tie even more dragons to you. Hm? Something like that..." Then she sighed and shook her head.

"What?" Julia looked helplessly at Fiete, who was trying to free himself from Peter's clutches.

"Possibly. Who knows?", he murmured and pushed Peter down from him. He lovingly kissed Peter's hair while doing so.

"This is the first time since... It has been a very long time ago. Dear heaven..." Trixi looked at Blossom and Hanna. "I didn't expect that."

"No one has!", Blossom agreed, amused. "It's something special. Just like in our stories."

"The story didn't end well. But yes. This is something remarkable. You're leaving today?" Now Trixi looked at Julia. Leopold instinctively put his arm around his girlfriend.

"Today. Yes. Without Pelle. He wants to stay here", Julia confirmed, reaching for Leopold's Hand with one hand. With the other, she held Josef, who had fallen asleep again. "But we'll be back in a few days. With harpies. Pelle and Alwin want to accompany us after that."

Trixi nodded. "Harpies... Yes, that was the deal, wasn't it? I hope you have a pleasant trip. The sooner you're out of here, the better for us." The mighty dragon grinned. "Who would have thought that one day a witch would return? And thanks for the warning. Weapons against dragons? This is a real threat! And excuse my freakout... It's not your fault, child. This news just caught me off, guard. Our community is not very big... And Pelle announced it so exaggeratedly solemnly. We have had bad experiences with these situations."

Julia smiled. "Dragons have a long memory. Fiete told us something about it." Then her eyes fell on Finn. "Blossom? Could Finn stay here? Until we get back? He is not up to a flight with dragons. And Leopold can't carry him all the way."

Finn protested before Blossom could answer. "No. I'll come with you! Just like Marko! I'm not staying here. My bones heal fast enough! Nothing will happen to me! I won't be a burden to you!"

"Your bones take hours to heal", Marko whispered to him. Finn rolled his eyes.

"And? I can still help!", he muttered. "I want to be there. I'm more than just this stupid disease!"

"There are generally too many of us", Fiete added. "Josef and I can't carry them all. And since Pelle and Alwin stay here..."

"And if we stay here?" Charlotte surprisingly suggested. "Someone would just have to take us back to the river. So that we can set up a tent there."

Cleo nodded and pressed a kiss to the hand of her wife, which she was holding.

"No way!", Blossom protested. "You stay with me. I have enough space. A warm cave is better than hot sand. You will lack nothing!"

Trixi snorted, but she had no objections.

"Would that be okay with you?", asked Julia. "To stay here with the dragons?"

Cleo nodded nervously. "If another storm comes, it would be better to be here."

Blossom smiled happily. "Wonderful! We love having guests!" Her daughter nodded contentedly.

"I'm fine with that", Trixi said. "You are friends, not enemies. Even if the little witch makes me nervous." She winked at Julia. "Please don't tie all my dragons to you."

Leopold grinned. For a moment he thought Trixi saw Julia as a threat. But she didn't. However, she didn't like the fact that another dragon was magically tied to Julia...

Fiete had told them little about the history of witches, wizards, and dragons. But one thing was certain: it ended in war. A war started by a powerful wizard and his three dragons. And dragons really had a long memory...

They agreed on who rode with which dragon. Josef had to be woken up for this, which he was anything but happy about. Until it was clear that Julia would ride on him. This made the bad-tempered cat merciful again. Julia and Finn would ride on Josef. As well as Leopold. But Leopold wanted to fly part of the route himself, even if he was slower than the two dragons. Peter and Marko rode on Fiete. Originally, Finn was supposed to fly together with Peter, as Josef flew very stormy. But Peter was too worried that Finn might get hurt. Just like Marko. Therefore, Julia quickly agreed to fly with Finn. Josefine, who had now taken human form, promised to fly cautiously.

Finn's protest had been like a wake-up call. Leopold wondered if Finn felt like they were looking down on him. Too much consideration for him and maybe they trusted him too little.

Then it was time to say goodbye for the time being.
